Actually you can get the Brinstar super missile before the wasp one or beating Ridley before Kraid.
Also it is possible(but very hard)to get the Varia Suit before the High Jump boots.
Ok, now I've beaten the game on hard AND found everything in my normal slot. I've started a speed run and I'm going for the '15% under three hours' ending. I think I should have gotten a fourth energy tank but with only two expansions available I'll need to collect the super missile container from the the wasp boss and the one near the entrance to Norfair.
My favorite bosses are Kraid, Acid Worm, Mecha-Ridley and the giant centipede 'thing'.

Yeah, on hard mode those projectiles are really annoying.

Also there is a fixed pattern when fighting Mother Brain.
Only on Normal- I'm currently playing through on hard. Why does Mother Brain have to be a pain in the azz to fight? Those rings keep knocking me off the platform!!!
