We'll start off with the basic etiquette and manners that is expected of anyone representing our site online:
Swearing-Don't. Period. I know that some of you are older, and know words that you might use a lot, but we do have a large number of younger members here and, just like in the forums, we don't want them learning any innappropriate language from us. Also, those words might offend some people and we are trying to be friends here. (hence "FRIENDcodes.com")
Poor Sportsmanship-Don't be a sore loser. Everyone loses eventually, so why whine about it? All it does is make people think badly of you, and if they do they are less likely to play you. Plus, no one likes a crybaby.;) (if you think this sounds harsh, look at my MPH record ;))
Quitting-This goes along with the last one. When you end your game on purpose before the end, it counts against you on your score. This means that if you quit, everyone knows. So don't do it.
Bragging-Everyone has the right to be proud when they accomplish something spectacular, or even something ordinary. But there is a limit to friendly boasting, so try and keep it in moderation.
Pleasantries-When someone loses 10 to 0, they're bound to feel pretty bad. So why not give a nice "Good Game", or "You'll get me next time!" to help lessen the blow. It'll do wonders to improve your reputation as a good opponent.
Ok, now that we've got that out of the way, we can get to the real meat of this announcment: the organization.
Classes:
There are three classes of MPH games on this site: Official, Sanctioned, and Freelance. (I made this up, so if it sounds weird it's because I am ;)) I've done this so that we have a standard termanology to use when talking about different types of matches.
Official-These are any games that are officially sponsored and run by friendcodes.com staff. I.e., the mods and admins. This mainly conists of official tournaments and the like.
Sanctioned-These are similar to the Official category, but are sponosored by and run by the clans. This would include Clan Wars, exhibition matches, and just plain clan vs. clan grudge battles. Anything that is done with a clan's seal of approval fits here.
Freelance-This is what most of the games will be. They are, simply put, everything else. Any game that isn't sponsored by friendcodes.com or a clan is Freelance.
Now we come to tournaments. The information here is more of an example of how they should be done that a guideline. You don't have to do tournaments this way, although I will. (Until a better way comes along)
Each tournament will be done pretty standardly, with a number of first matches that gradually comes down to a final bout. The difference is Team vs. Melee.
Team-Pretty obvious, it's the 2 vs. 2 game you can access on the menu. In team tournaments each team will enter some data when they sign up. This includes names of team members, team member's chosen character (each person will have to use the same character throughout the tournament. This is done so that you will only have to become proficient with one character, instead of all of them.), and the team's favorite level. The level is used because matches will be played with two games. Each team will be able to play their own level, and the total kills from each team will decide the match. This should help to even them out, as each will get home-field advantage.
Melee-This will be the term for a four-player free-for-all. They will be played by four players, and will only have one level that is decided by the "random" choice on level-select. The 2 players with the highest kill counts will procede to the next bout. Another option is to only let the first person go on, but this would require a lot more people, and would also put more pressure on fighting, as you have to be the best.
I hope you've all been taking notes, or at least copy/pasting. As I've said before, these are for your, and the site's benefit, so please don't hesitate to post with suggestions or comments. Thank you all for your cooperation.:)
