No More Heroes 2 won't be exclusively censored in Europe and Australia.

If you live in any country other than the US, you might have found that your local copies of No More Heroes were a tad less violent than their American cousins. Suda 51 stated that this was because Europe received the localized Japanese version of the game, which featured ugly black pixels instead of the delightfully entertaining blood spatter the US version was infamous for. As you can imagine, not many people were happy about this.

But at the Tokyo Game Show this year, the sequel was revealed, dubbed No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle. Apart from the fact that it won't release until Q1 2010 at the earliest, nothing much is known about the game. Suda 51 however did go on record by announcing that they intend to release "two versions" on the game. One will feature all the extreme violence and blood, the other will not.

Quote:
"With No More Heroes 2 we want to please the fans too. I want the European users to be able to experience the extreme version."
There is rumour speculating that WiiMotionPlus will be used in this title, and with 15 months left until it releases, it doesn't seem unlikely.

Ah. I'm really glad this game is getting Wiimotion plus support. I think it'll improve the way Travis' beam saber is used. Nice report Budge007

do you really need 2 copies, why not have a option in the game saying turn off/on gore

Exactly what I was thinking. =/

Seriously, what the hell? I guess they're trying to make more money than they would have if they put an on/off option for the gore. I don't expect the friendlier version to sell as well as the bloody one, unless one is rated T and the other one M. So that, you know, the younger gamers wouldn't be left out...

Re: No More Heroes 2 won't be exclusively censored in Europe and Australia.

The reason of having 2 choices to buy is that If the game HAD the choices inbedded it AUTOMATICALLY rises its rating(the fact that in the cd is an option to censor DOES not lowers it).Is like having a dvd with a explicit sexual scene on it, the fact that you can cut it with an option doesnt makes it E for everyone, because the choice to see its there. So thats the reasoning to sell 2 different versions, one that parents can safely buy for kids and other uncensored that any grown up can purchase.Logical.The gore options in games are outdated and the few games that keep them are the ones who put them NOT to lower its rating, just to please gamers that are offended by it(completely different reason).

I can totally see what you're thinking, and it makes sense, but just because there's no gore, it doesn't mean the game would not be Teen. The original No More Heroes was Mature in every way, be it the explicit sexual innuendo or the insane amounts of swearing. It's just a game that was never meant to be played by kids.

how will you tell them apart? will 1 have a sticker on it saying less or more gore/blood? and in US will it just be the blood copy or both?

At this point, it's only for Europe and Australia (and possibly Japan). America will just be getting the uncensored one.
