Nintendo has responded to another batch of strong US sales by identifying the
Wii's "variety of unique interfaces" as the key to the Nintendo
Wii's success. The
Wii topped the NPD hardware list for September, again, selling 687,000 units, up 234,000 from August and a year-on-year increase of over 37 per cent.
The console also saw four of its own titles take top ten software positions with a combined sales total of over 1.3 million sold.
"The four
Wii games in the top ten all feature controls just not possible on other videogame systems," says Cammie Dunaway, NOA's executive VP of Sales & Marketing.
"The
Wii Balance Board and
Wii Wheel give players new ways to interact with their games, while the
Wii Remote controller transforms into a pool cue, table tennis paddle or lightsaber. Consumers have truly responded to this variety of entertainment options."
