Official Friendcodes Holiday Buyers Guide.

Hello members of Friendcodes.com. The Holiday season is among us and it's quite obvious that many of you will be buying plenty of games for your respective consoles. Hearing this, we have decided that we are going to create a short list of games for the Wii and DS that you absolutely must consider buying for Christmas.

We will start with Wii games then DS games. Check out the write ups and see if the game is for you. They are listed in no particular order.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Every single Wii owner absolutely must own a copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Not only is this game a solid and very entertaining fighting game, but it offers an amazing amount of fan service. You can play as Nintendo's flagship characters ranging from Mario and Zelda to Kirby and Pokemon. There are also plenty of stages to play on, all of which are themed after environments in Nintendo games. Four player matches are addictive and can range from entertaining to totally insane. The solo mode also features the Subspace Emissary, which is an 8-10 hour adventure through the world of Nintendo. It's the same gameplay we've come to love from the Super Smash Bros series and so much more. A must have.

Guitar Hero World Tour (Wii)

If you are a Wii owner, there is a good chance you are tired of getting ripped off by lazy developers not truly bringing the Wii's potential to life with multi-platform games. Well now is your time to pick up your plastic guitars and rock out hard, because Guitar Hero World Tour is here and this time, Wii owners will be getting the full deal. Not only does it feature all the essential game modes from the Xbox 360 version, but you will also be getting downloadable content. So long as 200 blocks are free on your Wii's internal memory, songs are downloaded with Wii Points and then saved on an SD Card. The Wii version also has an exclusive mode called Mii Freestyle, which is pretty much Wii Music only it's actually fun. The game may be pricey, but if you are a Wii owner looking for a rhythm game this holiday season, Guitar Hero World Tour is your best bet.

Animal Crossing: City Folk

If you are a fan of the Animal Crossing series and have a Wii, then this is the game for you. Have fun moving to your new town and meeting new creatures and people. A new feature is the ability to go to the City, a new area you go to by bus where you can find new shops and people to meet. This game also allows you to visit the hair dresser and change your character into your Mii. The online gameplay is also the first to use the Wii Speak microphone feature, which comes bundled with the game. Have fun talking to your friends and visiting each others towns and discussing what your heart desires. This is a game you will definitely want to buy this holiday season.

Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party

Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party brings the same trademark insanity and enjoyment from the original two games and throws the Wii Balance Board into the mix. The Rabbids have been zapped into your TV and now control every program on every station, which apparently isn't as glorious as one would think. The mini-games themselves are silly and occasionally laugh-out-loud funny, and have a very wide variety. The game may be short, but if you are looking for a party game this Christmas that is sure to entertain, make it this one.

De Blob

De Blob is a very unique Wii game. It's sort of a 3D platformer combined with Mario Paint. In it you play a Blob that has to save a city from the evil INKT corporation. How does he do it? By painting the city and freeing its citizens. You go through a series of levels painting the city and completing objectives around the city. You can paint almost anything in sight, thanks to the highly interactive environments, and you can mix colors to add your own flavor to the environments. Also, the game boast some nice, colorful graphics, as well as some good sound work. It also has a lot of play value thanks to the bonus content you can unlock. Basically, if you want a fun and original game this holiday season, it's hard to go wrong with De Blob.

Nintendo DS

Luminous Arc 2

If you are a fan of SRPGs or Final Fantasy Tactics then this is the game for you. This game is very enjoyable. The battle system is well programed and the battle effects will leave you stunned. The voice overs are very good too, which is a nice change compared to some other anime RPGs out there. This game has multiple endings which works to add some replay value. The game is also WiFi compatible and you can test your skills against friends or random people across the nation. A special soundtrack CD is included with every purchase of the game. Everyone deserves to give it a try.

Chrono Trigger DS

If you a fan of old school RPGs for the SNES, then this is the game for you! This is a direct port from SNES to the DS with a few extra added tidbits. The game art is similar to Dragon Ball and the people who brought you Final Fantasy also helped make this game. There are more dungeons and game modes like The Dimensional Vortex and The Arena of Ages. The Arena of Ages is multi-player which features monsters battling like Pokemon. You can play the game like it was on the SNES or the new DS mode which features touch screen gameplay. For DS and RPG fans, this is the game to get!

The World Ends With You

If you have a DS, chances are you love that touchscreen. Well, treat your touchscreen to a good time this holiday season by buying it The World Ends With You. The World Ends With You is another smash hit RPG from Square Enix, the makers of the Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger series, as well as Jupiter, the geniuses behind Kingdom Hearts: Chain Of Memories that pushes the Touchscreen to the limit. The World Ends With You is a more mature game with a deep story line that will keep you entertained for hours as you collect pins. These pins are how you attack, one pin might shoot light bullets, another might cause an earthquake. If you love J-Pop. J-Rap, or Japanese music in general, you'll love The World Ends With You. The World Ends With You: Another great game from Square Enix and Jupiter.

Kirby Super Star Ultra (NDS)

This game is a port/remake of the greatest Kirby game for the SNES. The gameplay in this game is simply, all you do is eat baddies and take their abilities. There are so many abilities to choose from. Kirby Super Star Ultra is a game for the whole family. The game has a buddy system where instead of taking their ability, you can create a teammate. There is about 5 mini games to play. Kirby Super Star Ultra is also multiplayer. If you want an easy and enjoyable game then Kirby Super Star Ultra is the way to go.

Games to Avoid (Wii and DS)

Since we have a list of games to stuff into your stocking this Christmas, we have also prepared a short list of games to keep out of them. Be warned, these games are to be avoided.

Alone in the Dark

Alone in the Dark was supposed to be a welcome comeback for the series after being dormant for about 10 years, but this version fell flat on its face. There are a lot of issues in this game, from the sloppy voice acting (the main character has 2 different voices, one of which sounds like a pre-pubescent 10-year old) to the poor structure of the game (you can skip to the last level the first time you start if you want to). It's also very short (only about 3-5 hours). However, the worst part of all is that the Wii version is by far the worst one, thanks to the atrocious motion controls that are extremely sloppy and unresponsive (especially the driving). Basically, Alone in the Dark isn't worth the $30 it's selling for now, and if you have to get a version of the game, get the PS2 or the 360 version, because the controls in the Wii version make it borderline unplayable.

Wii Music

No, this isn't in the wrong section. If you are between the ages of 12 and 70, you'd be best off avoiding this game. It may have the Nintendo seal of approval on it, but let me assure you it's one of the biggest loads of shovel ware I have ever seen Nintendo create. The track list is a joke, the gameplay is bland and uninspired and quite frankly, it's just boring. The goal of the game is to listen to one of your childhood sing-a-long songs and shake the Wii remote and nunchuck accordingly. It also doesn't help that the music is terribly low quality. There is a twist to the game by allowing you to add notes while you play, but considering this makes the song sound even worse, it's not even worth the effort. Don't be fooled by Nintendo's advertisements, you won't be smiling and jumping around while playing this. The most fun you'll have with this game is by looking at it, as the graphics surprisingly hold up nicely. But we've all heard that looks can be deceiving, and Wii Music fits that perfectly.

Smackdown Vs Raw 2009

Loved the Smackdown vs Raw series for your 360? Well, you won't love it for the DS. Smackdown VS Raw 2009 looked very promising with a new career mode and graphics that seem to push the DS to it's limits, but looks go out of the window fast. Oh yeah, don't expect to just pick up and play. This game has a steep learning curve, you're expected to learn from watching a video of the preformed actions, which I might add, are very hard to learn. Most of the actions are very hard to pull off in the first place. To grapple, you must make continuous circles on your opponent, then press up, then make more circles and slide the stylus up. That's a little too much if you ask me. DS owners don't want games that are too complex to learn and play.

Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ (NDS)
If you looking for a good zombie shooting game then this isn't the game for you. The idea of having having a fairy tale character turn into a sexy heroine who fights zombies seems like a good idea, but the game is not well developed. First of all this game is very short , hardly worth the $20 your paying for it. The game attempts to add some humor into it's story, but the jokes are really shallow and uninspired. The controls are the only thing that holds this game up, but it gets very repetitive after the third level. The voice acting is very annoying too, the developers make Little Red Riding Hood sound like a hill billy. If you want a run and gun game for the DS, I suggest getting Metal Slug 7.

Re: Official Friendcodes Holiday Buyers Guide.

Yeah it just goes to show you that when playing games reviews aren't much help because you are getting someone elses point of view who, more than likely likes & dislikes gameplay elements that you may enjoy. Like me for instance: I found Rayman: Raving Rabbids to be just another re-rash of the last 2 in the series. I for one am tired of the minigame frenzy & would like to see some games with abit more substance.

Re: Official Friendcodes Holiday Buyers Guide.

Why do people need other people to recommend games for them...?
Just type in the game title on youtube and see for your self!

Remember that other people do not react in the same way you do.

Instead of saying "what suX" and "whats keWL", why not try to write
an objective report on how the game is played and how its buildt..?
