After various spin-offs of Dragon Quest on the
DS and
Wii, a couple of months ago Square-Enix announced that the game’s main lineage will be continued on the Nintendo
DS with Dragon Quest IX. While it was an outrage to some Sony fans, as the last two chapters of the series appeared on the first and second Playstation, it was also a blessing for Nintendo’s followers.
At this point we can confirm that Square-Enix has developed a firm liaison with Nintendo as Dragon Quest X, the sequel to the
DS game, will be appearing on another Nintendo system, namely the
Wii.
At an event held in Japan to hype Dragon Quest IX’ March 28th release, Square-Enix announced that Dragon Quest X will be coming to the
Wii.
Nintendo hasn’t seen an original Dragon Quest game appear on their systems since the NES’ Dragon Warrior III, apart from spin-offs of course. Nintendo and RPG fans can rejoice with this latest announcement. Hopefully more 3rd party companies can realize what untapped potential the
Wii still has to offer and choose to take the risk and make the leap.
Expect more info on this game soon! As always, we’ll keep you posted.
