While 2008 saw the release of Mario Kart
Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the
Wii, there were also more than too many lack luster offerings distributed by third-party developers. As such, it doesn't seem as a surprise that while the
Wii may be selling like crazy, people would rather play their PlayStation 2 or Xbox 360.
According to a
.PDF file on nielsen.com, the PlayStation 2 was the most played console of 2008, sitting on a massive 31.7% of Usage. The Xbox 360 snuck in second with 17.2%, with the
Wii placed in third on 13.4%. Unfortunately for Sony, the chart shows that gamers spent more time playing the original Xbox than they did the PlayStation 3, both making up the top five with 9.7% and 7.3% respectively. The GameCube comes in sixth with 4.6% with Other making up the remaining 16.2%.
