Dragon Quest IX, Square Enix’ upcoming
DS sequel to the critically acclaimed franchise, will allow for players to download new content every so often via a service called the ‘Dragon Quest Wi-Fi Shopping Network’. The service can be accessed by talking to a green garbed girl named Roxanne in the game.
The online market place will offer new quests, events and items, offered by Square Enix, as well as items set up for sale by other players. Square Enix even promised that they will be releasing extra content each week during the game’s first year on sale. These quests vary from killing specific groups of monsters and treasure hunting to complete sub-stories.
Dragon Quest IX: Protectors of the Sky will be out March 28th in Japan, but only in December 2009 for American and European regions.
