With the recent information about the Playstation 3's Netflix streaming being leaked, analyst Michael Pachter thinks that the company isn't planning to stop there. GamesIndustry.biz reports that Pachter believes we're going to see a similar feature coming to the Nintendo
Wii within "
the next 12 months."
He believes that that a disc-based solution is Netflix's way around the constraints of the deal they made with Microsoft. "
Because [PS3 and Wii] have open architecture Internet browsers built-in, the solution proposed for the PS3 would likely not violate the terms of Microsoft's exclusivity," he said.
As for
Wii support, it seems likely that the company is planning an offering a similar solution, especially since Netflix surveys regarding the
Wii have specifically mentioned a free streaming disc.
