Reggie: 60% Of Nintendo Marketers Will Leave

In a statement released to members of the media today, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime said that 60% of Nintendo's sales and marketing staff would leave the company rather than move to San Francisco or New York City.

"A transition task force of key executives has been formed to ensure the smoothest process possible, and continuous information and resources will be available to all employees. The rest of Nintendo’s strong leadership talent will continue to drive our business objectives forward."

He did not comment on whether specific top marketing/PR staff -- notably, George Harrison, Perrin Kaplan, and Beth Llewelyn -- would be leaving the company as reported earlier this week.

The full statement is after the jump.

"Virtually all of the employees affected by the relocation plan have now responded with their decisions, and approximately four of every ten have agreed to make the move to either New York or the Bay Area, in keeping with our original expectations.

A transition task force of key executives has been formed to ensure the smoothest process possible, and continuous information and resources will be available to all employees. The rest of Nintendo’s strong leadership talent will continue to drive our business objectives forward. It has always been the case that Nintendo employees are resilient and rise to any challenge, and there is no doubt in my mind that we will excel as we continue to tackle new challenges and business opportunities.

Nintendo itself can not discuss the relocation status of any individual involved, but for those who will be departing the company, we have every expectation that they will succeed to the highest degree in their future endeavors. We will miss the talent, energy and experience from those who have chosen not to relocate. Our sales and marketing teams have been key components in returning Nintendo to its current position of market leadership.

President, Nintendo of America"

Re: Reggie: 60% Of Nintendo Marketers Will Leave

If I'm understanding this right, it's just the marketing staff??? The marketers that design the packaging and how to sell games. As long as it's not the game creaters we have nothing to worry about???:)

That would slow down game releases.

My Dad is a marketer!!!!! This would mean they would have less people designing anything that says wii on it, such as box art, and the works, you know? This is very bad. This means that game releases will be 60% slower...

Make the right choice Nintendo!!!!!!!

Well after they move, they will probably get 20% back from new people. That would take a while to go up to 60% though.

Why make them move anyways? What good would come from it? How does simply relocating justify making 60% of your Marketers leave?

....they're just moving to a different location. It's a huge company, and there's absolutley no need for them to listen to someone outside of the company to tell them what to do. There's really nothing all that huge about this.
