Following its announcement at Comic-Con over the weekend, Rare as confirmed via its official website that Viva Piñata on Nintendo
DS is a reality, and it's released the first official screenshot of the game.
The company also confirmed that unlike Viva Piñata: Party Animals for the Xbox 360, this one's being developed in-house at Rare. And, they teased,
"This is a full-size Viva Piñata game in your pocket, featuring not only the entire range of paper beasts from the Xbox 360 title but also a few new ones thrown in to spice things up for those familiar with the established cast."
An expanded selection of tools, and tool actions, will be on offer, Rare continued, along with upgraded forms of the Journal and Encyclopedia, and brand new modes like Sandbox (for full and easy access to your favourite Piñatas) and Episodes (tying in more closely to the TV series and allowing fans of the show to spend quality time with familiar faces).
Of course, one of the biggest differences with this Viva Piñata game will be the controls, and Rare confirmed that you'll be poking the screen with the stylus to interact with your garden menagerie.
"Design, nurture, instruct, protect and care for your garden and animals through direct touch," said the company.
The Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection will also be utilised, allowing you to share Piñatas with your friends, which Rare said will make
"the act of parading your Doenut around in a humiliating pirate outfit easier than ever."
