The Smash Dojo confirmed a few months ago that Ness' fellow Earthbounder, Lucas will be joining the Brawl next year. Ever since his confirmation, it has been pondered as to whether or not Ness would be returning also or if Lucas would be taking his place. However, today's Smash Update has confirmed that Ness' Smash days may have come to an end having stated the following:
"There’s a character named Ness who has appeared in the Smash Bros. series up until now, and Lucas is very similar. They are from the same family of PK users."
"But Lucas’s physical combat style is quite different. By which I mean, he does not have the same standard moves."
Below this announcement was Lucas' Special Move Set which you would guess, is very similar to that of Ness, but slightly different. Moves such as PK Fire have been greatly improved for Brawl, instead of a spark igniting into a little fire...
It EXPLODES.
Also for a little more originality, PK Flash was replaced with the new and improved PK Freeze.
You charge it up just like PK Flash...
And freeze your opponents.
Other moves that were confirmed were his PSI Magnet and of course, the famed PK Thunder.
Ness is, as far as our source is concerned, the first officially cut character from Brawl. Who else will be getting axed is yet to be seen, but we will keep you updated.
Think about this before you start getting ready to prove this article wrong. If Ness was to be in this game, then why is it that they have given Lucas Ness' move set? Nintendo confirmed that they wouldn't be releasing any characters with cloned moves and I see the possibility of them adding Ness with a new move set quite low.
