Super Mario Galaxy makes Game Trailers' Game of 2007. - 01-01-08

Since Super Mario Galaxy's release, game experts have been saying that it was a golden nominee for Game of the Year. Although it isn't the Game of 2007 yet, according to Game Trailers, it is.

Game Trailers has made a video showing off all their finalists for Game of the Year 2007....

i guess....maybe it just depends on how old you are...games are made with different target markets in mind
for example halo 3 is for preteens and teens, while super mario galaxy is more for the kids and some preteens

A lot of sites have been giving the game of the year to Bioshock or Mass Effect. Halo 3, while a great game, is just an expansion of the old, while being a great expansion and conclusion. SMG is the game that truly warrants game of the year. Mass Effect is in a decent second and Bioshock is in a very distant third. My biggest criteria here is "what game has been the best built and at the same time changed the way we think of games in our homes." Bioshock is just another shooter. It's good, but Black for the xbox, F.E.A.R. for the pc and other games are all in the same spot. I place Mass Effect in second because it put games on a new cinematic and emotional level of connectivity. Mass Effect was a really long interactive movie. Beyond all of that though SMG changed how people play games. It was wonderfully built and plays beautifully. It perfectly integrates the wiimote and even my mother likes playing the game. I actually saw a mother playing the game with the wiimote and her little son playing with the nunchaku attachment at a GameStop a week ago. I would vote that Super Mario Galaxy is not a video game, but rather video entertainment for all.

Super Mario Galaxy was Gamespot's #1 too. I was just playing this today and I almost got 120 stars.

meh. it's an ok game but i don't see how it got game of the year

storyline-terrible

gameplay-pretty much the same as 64 except with more powerups. didn't find it addictive, but apparently everyone else has.

background music-good

graphics-best for the wii

replay value- maybe 7 out of 10. its too easy and its short.

overall - 7 or an 8 out of 10.

i don't see why it's a contender and possibly game of the year. feels like its all hype.
