You talk of Mario being overrated, then you list Halo 3 as your second choice. Nice :P
Each game that should have been recognized was, because each game was deserving of that recognition. From Guitar Hero 3, to Super Mario Galaxy, to Call of Duty 4, games from different ends of the spectrum joined the list.
By looking at the staff choices here, it is easy to understand that not one game is the absolute best. But understand, every game chosen was chosen because they were absolute favorites of the staff. Each game on the list is an excellent game to play, to own, to have fun with.
From "fragging noobs" in Halo 3 to Nailing Riffs in Guitar Hero 3, all of these games give the player an opportunity to truly have fun.
Sorry my opinion isn't on there, but apparently Pong was not released in the past year. Darn kids. (I Joke.)
As the awards prove, 2007 was a great year for gaming. New heights were reached, new perspectives added, new friends made. With games like SSBB, Mario Kart
Wii, MGS4, and GTA4 looming on the horizon, the future looks good as well.
