It's no mystery that Australia has been getting the royal screw job from Nintendo over the years, but it was never considered that other developers would also start showing complete disregard for the Australian Nintendo fanbase. This past Thursday, one of the
Wii's most anticipated third-party titles, Medal of Honor: Heroes 2, arrived down under. This title has been hyped up due to it's ability to support up to 32 players over EA's online network.
However, when the title reached Australia, the entire Multiplayer mode was absent from the game, despite the official Australian websites of both EA and Nintendo claiming the game had Wi-Fi play. In an attempt to calm down fans and avoid "false advertisement claims", EA has issued an apology and are offering buyers to return their game to them for a full refund.
"Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 for Wii does not support online functionality in Australia. We've made an error in the documentation and marketing materials. We're very sorry to have caused confusion for our customers and we will provide a refund to anyone in Australia who wishes to return the game to EA because of the lack of online functionality."
The reason for this mode being canned in the Australian version is most likely due to the fact that EA didn't want to create another server for such a small user base. EA has also made no comment regarding them adding online play to future copies. Kudos EA, thanks for ruining one of my most anticipated games for me.
