Wii speculated to dominate 2008. - 04-04-2008

During 2007, Nintendo, with their Wii and DS, blew away most of the competition and proved to Sony and Microsoft that they are formidable foes and won't back down. According to Daniel Ernst's outlook on how Nintendo will be doing through the rest of 2008, it looks like the Wii and DS will plow...

Well I have every newer gaming system so HA! (so far I don't like the PS3 that much. Not very many good games. Same with the PSP really...)

Re: Wii speculated to dominate 2008.

I think Sony's luck may turn around. The new releases seem EPIC (LittleBigPlanet FTW!) I am predicting a facelift for the PS3 this year, and the Wii to do as always: Make some cool games and sell a lot. I can't say too much about the XBox, but I'm seeing a big Rivavly between Sony and Microsoft this time around.

Re: Wii speculated to dominate 2008.

Sony & Microsoft need to step aside and let Nintendo take it's rightful spot atop the gaming world once again, like it was in the days of the N64 and PSX, when Nintendo was king and Sony was peasant. Now Microsoft can serve as sub-peasant, lol. Nintendo all the way

Blu-ray ray will most likely stay a luxury item until the next media type comes along. (which is probably going to do away with a hard copy all together.)
Hey ##@!@#@, blu-ray IS the next media. You know when we still had VHS, then DVD's came, and now hardly anyone uses VHS cassettes. Well now, we have DVD's and Blu-Ray, which soon people will start using Blu-Ray. Price don't matter, DVD players and everything were expensive back then to those people but hell, they still got em.

Most Likely to sell more for Nintendo.

And Sony a good Average,

Though Microsoft will sell less.

VHS tapes were actually more expensive back in the day, with prices ranging from $24-$30. Media player's aside, when DVD's were introduced to the general public, they had a price tag of $20+. Now you can swear your life on Blu-ray like the hollywood exec's would like for you to do, but for a product to replace another, it generally have to follow these 3 guidelines;

1.) New product must provide user with some sort of use that makes the user's life more convenient. Blu-ray does not do this any more then DVD's do.

2.) New product must be cheaper to make by the producer, and cheaper to buy by the consumer. As mentioned before; Blu-ray movies are $40, so no-go for this one ether.

3.) New product has to offer something great then the predecessor. Being a good sport that I am, I'll go ahead and give you this one.

So considering the above, Blu-ray get a 1 out of 3. Not exactly earth shattering now is it? Everyone wants to compare the Blu-ray as the next DVD, when in actuality, its more along the lines of someone's preference between letterbox and full-view.

Now won't lecture you anymore, since you're most likely going to call me a "##@!@#@" and ignore me, but I will leave you with a final thought. Never underestimate the power of the wallet my friend. When you move out of you parents house, you'll find out how badly price does matter.

Blu-Ray looks better than normal DVD's, thats a convenience.

PS3's are more expensive than the PS2, but still people bought the PS3 to replace their PS2.

I'm pawned? WOW you really are a fool. I wasn't even talking about gaming consoles, but if you insist....

Really? Because if I'm not mistaken PS2 is still beating out the PS3 in sales and games are still being produced for the PS2. Now anyone with any lick of sense could tell you that the only people that ran out to replace their PS2s were the fanboys. The sales charts clearly show that PS3 is running a distant third in the console war thus far.(link) Oh, in case you haven't notice, the Wii is still being sold out world wide. Oh, and it happens to be the cheapest of the three systems available market to date. If you want further proof of the power that the wallet holds, we can that a look back at one of the other powerhouse systems of the past like the Atari Jaguar. This system, like the PS3, beat out its competitors in raw power, but unfortunately failed due to high cost. Now, I'm not saying that the PS3 will fail. Sony has a strong following and a good lineup this year, and I expect to see sales improve for it. I just don't see it beating out the Wii any time soon.

Well that's just a matter of opinion. I , for one, wouldn't jump at the first toy with whistles and pretty lights. I also find it weird that you think placing a Blu-ray disc into a Blu-Ray player more convenient then placing a DVD Disc into a DVD player. Blu-ray doesn't exactly do anything to help that DVD collection you have either. So you're forced to either re- purchase all of your favorite titles in Blu-ray format, or watch them in standard definition. By the way, Blu-ray players play DVD's in poorer quality then standard DVD players since the component wires blur the picture. None of this tips the convenience scale in Blu-ray's direction, nor does it convince me that better picture and sound is worth all this trouble.

Insults aside, I'll let things rest from here on out. I believe that I got my point across enough for you understand and it's obvious to me that you're not going to budge on your opinion anyway. All I can say that only time can tell the victor of this "argument."

..... it's still hilarious that you think you pawned me though.
