Sonic Team not developing Sonic Unleashed Wii.

Sonic Team not developing Sonic Unleashed Wii.

Surprise surprise. It seems that the 3D Sonic developer, Sonic Team, will not have any roll in developing the Wii version of the new Sonic Unleashed game. Instead, it seems that Dimps, the team behind Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure will be in charge.

In addition, it seems that the Wii version will be much different than it's Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 counterparts. It will use a different engine, feature different levels, elements to the game play and to much surprise, be focusing mostly on the 2-Dimensional game play. This means there is a good chance we'll be seeing a 2D Sonic game for the Wii.

For those who may not like idea, this may end up being a better investment than the 3D Sonic, especially after witnessing the last few lackluster Sonic games on the home consoles.

Sonic Unleashed is coming to the Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii.

Are you talking 2D as in graphics? I'm pretty sure it'll be 3D on a 2D plane, but they mean the Wii's won't shift to the 3D field as much or at all. But who's for sure at this point?

I'm all for this, honestly.
after SA2B the whole idea of 3D went down the tube, for sonic, and they tried to make up for it with new characters, which....apparently didn't work.
anywho, it's a little bit harder to screw up a 2D sonic game in this day & age, don'cha think?? I'm hoping Dimps can pull it of, because Sonic Team has had their chances....andthensome.

The graphics will most likely be 3D, but the game play will run classic 2D Sonic.

That's good, I've been saying for a few years they should've done this. I wonder if Capcom could do something similar with Megaman.

so its going to be like sonic rush but with next gen graphics, COOL :D the sonic team letting Dimp devolop sonic unleashed was a brilliant idea :D

Well when you think about it the sonic games went under as soon as they went 3D (Especially Sonic and Flickies island) and I think it should have stayed 2D.

I hope Sonic Team learns that just because a console has more power dosent mean you have to use it to its maximum capabilities (this can be seen by wii games that dont need motion sensing controls where a button will suffice).
Afterall Viewtiful Joe (1) was a excellent game and that was 2D and people still buy 2D DS games that are enjoyable.

But Im still going to wait and see what the finished product turns out like before I buy it.

I only liked the classic megaman series, now its just "QUICK MEGAMAN! YOU HAFTA JACKIN TO THE SNOCONE MACHINE TO GET IT TO WORK!!!!" what happened to Dr. Wily?

well they did a megaman X remake on the psp which was cool, when you cpmleted it you unlocked a little anime movie which shows the events before leading up to the game.
