Yeah, so today I finally purchased Super Smash Bros. Brawl after MONTHS of waiting for it to release in Australia. I must admit that after hearing many people on this website complain about how the game is all hype and that it isn't all that good, my confidence in this game fell greatly. Since I purchased my
Wii, maybe not since Guitar Hero III has a game sucked me in to the point where I play it for hours on end. Super Mario Galaxy was too easy and Mario Kart
Wii just got.... boring. I've been regretting the arrival of the much delayed Super Smash Bros. Brawl because I thought that just like Galaxy and Mario Kart
Wii before it, I'd play them through once and then store them away. Today, I finally purchased it, put it in my
Wii console and booted it up and within minutes I was playing....
.... next thing I knew, 4 hours had passed.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl is, without a doubt, the BEST GAME Nintendo has put forth on the
Wii since it's launch in 2006. During the four hours I had spent playing it, I played a number of Brawl matches, played Classic twice and did a number on the Subspace Emissary. This game is just so gosh darn delightful to play. Through my time playing, the only complaint I found was the sometimes unbearably long load times in between fights in Subspace Emissary. So this brings me to my point and why I am making this post, an over-hyped game is a bad game.
Many of you members who live in the America's were treating Brawl like a cure for some kind of deadly illness. When it was delayed, the forum was flooded with angry members posting about how lame and totally uncool it was of Nintendo to do. Then when the game finally released, within a week many of you were saying "Brawl sucks, it was all hype".
It made me laugh, especially right now after I have played the game myself. I don't know how high your expectations were, but knowing Nintendo's current track record with hardcore gamers and the
Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl is a refreshing and VERY VERY over due game for the system. Anyone who thinks that Brawl was all hype obviously stuck the game in the wrong way. It's amazing, and you should all be playing it now.
