For months now, we've been hearing numerous rumors about a Castlevania game for the Nintendo
Wii. Koji Igarashi [creator of the Castlevania series] has stated that he doesn't want a Castlevania game that you use your
Wii remote as a whip, and where you are constantly whipping like crazy. Alongside, he also gave out hints that a Castlevania game for the
Wii console may be in the works. Recently, GoNintendo [a Nintendo news site] has received a screenshot from the next Nintendo Power magazine that shows a new Castlevania game for the Nintendo
Wii. But instead of the classic 2D adventure game, it's a whole new style of gameplay.
"Castlevania Judgment" (currently named) will be a 3D fighting game that will feature your favorite Castlevania characters.
Like Mortal Kombat, or Street Fighter, Castlevania Judgment will feature two characters who will release furious attacks to one another. On top of the screen is a life bar, which holds how much life you have left, the time limit of the match, the weapon that you are using, and a 'magic bar' in which your character can build up to release an attack much similar to the final smash in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. So far, characters such as Dracula, Simon, Alucard, Shanoa, and Maria Renard have been confirmed. Maria is unlocked through
DS to
Wii connectivity, says Koji Igarashi. Alongside with a wide selection of weapons, such as holy water, magic spells, daggers and the boomerang. Within the fighting, you can set traps, destroy environments and enemy monsters will interfere with battles, at times. As for the controls, you use the
Wii remote for motion attacks. This includes punches, and kicks. You use the nunchuck for your character movement. No other controller schemes or attack combinations have yet to be confirmed.
Koji Igarashi has confirmed that their will be some sort of Wi-Fi connection interaction. My guess is towards online fighting.
From a recent quote in an interview, Koji Igarashi said
“I guess some fans may worry about the game quality, but I am confident that we can achieve a very high-quality game. I think that fans…will see that it stays true to the Castlevania series. Even though this is a fighting game I can guarantee that it will be fun.”
