Since the day the Revolution was revealed, Nintendo has been throwing around ideas about putting DVD playback into the system. Originally the Wii was going to be sold alongside an attachment that would allow it to play DVDs, but the idea never came to be. Nintendo then revealed that plans for the...

Re: Nintendo's DVD Wii put on hold.

i wouldnt get this as i use my xbox 360 as a dvd player and i have two Wiis already the reason i have two is because my first one i got the one that came out on launch didnt play ssbb so i went out and bought a brand new wii to play it instead of getting my old one and sending it off to be fixed. im thinking about selling my old wii though it plays everything fine except ssbb

Re: Nintendo's DVD Wii put on hold.

You know what Nintendo really should do is add some few features to it like these above:
Features that may be great:
DVD player.
Almost Reality graphics.
download Wii demos/( japan only) demo games for free without Internet/Gamestop.
Chatroom.
No friend codes.
In the Wii menu ow about using the controller to automaticially go to the thing you want to do instead of moving the Wii controller to go where you want.

The reason why I say put these features in because it be better if they do besides just coming up with a 2nd version for the Wii that have 1 feature aand some people will be disappointed about the Wii 2nd version sucks because only 1 feature or be like they didn`t try to upgrade it but I was hoping for Nintendo DS2 next year early 09 or end of 08.

i don't think that the dvd wii is going to be any better than the current model unless they give us more memory and some new features. most people already own dvd players or their computer plays dvd

I don't think a Wii with DVD capability is necessary, it's cool but I guarantee at least 90% of people have a DVD player.

Dude how can`t you not agreed with me, you acted like I say the Wii sucks or something, I just saying it be better if they add few more features to the 2nd version to the Wii then just adding 1 feature.

This is a stupid move by Nintendo. DVD players are slowly dying to make room for the new HD and Blu Ray players. Nintendo are living in the past, adding DVD compatibility isn't going to drive sales when most homes already have a DVD player, let alone a current Wii. They should have just stuck with their idea to release an attachment that allowed the Wii to play DVDs.

Re: Nintendo's DVD Wii put on hold.

I have a dvd player, but my Wii playing dvds would be even better. Then i wouldn't have different wires going into the tv when i want to play music and SSBB.
But yeah, they have left it really late. An attachment would be fine, no need to buy a whole new wii.
And when the sales run low, a DVD player isn't gonna make everyone hyped again is it? ...
Lololol, "Wii dvd player" the new game in the "Wii sport", "Wii fit" series xD
