After the Nintendo
Wii launched back on November 19th, 2006, a game entitled
"Sadness" was due out after a couple of weeks. Weeks after the project was reveled, a mini-trailer was introduced to the gaming world. Many were very excited for this title because it had a beautiful art style to the gameplay [life-like graphics], and it looked incredibly scary [because the game is in black and white]. No other details have been confirmed, or a reason of why it hasn’t been released yet. Well, back in 2007, Nibris [the company behind the title Sadness] have been declared bankruptcy. Nibris is a very small company and hasn’t received much criticism. We haven't heard about Nibris or the game Sadness again. Until today.
Recently, Nibris has posted up a website for the game Sadness. The official website gives out the storyline, some screenshots, and a release date. So for some reason, they've gotten a lot of money for this title, or the whole bankruptcy statement was all fake.
The game is about
"the study of fear and the borders of human imagination... A trip to the darkest corners of consciousness, in all of us... A trip to the hell of the subconscious and not necessarily to return... This gothic horror (atmosphere) is not the game of the action. If you're counting on shooting, liters of blood and piles of dead bodies then unfortunately you won't find this here. We are preparing for a mood which will not leave you till the very end of the game. An irregular scenario decides on such issues as schizophrenia or narcolepsy. Apart from an extremely complex and rich-in-the-shocking-factor scenario, the power of our production is innovative use of the Wii controller. Sadness is black and white psychological horror game in which you control Maria - Victorian age aristocrat trying to protect her 8 year old, blind son from monsters trying to get him. Action is set on the verge of XIX and XX century, in ruins in woods of Russian Empire. Entire game focuses on psychological aspects of fear and player interactions with Alexander."
Sadness is currently looking at a fall 2009 release.
