Lucusart's "Furious" Over Wii Motion Plus

In a strange sort of way, you can think of Nintendo as the anti-Peter Molyneux. Any fan of his own Fable series is aware that he has a tendency to not just give people a nearly unhealthy amount of choice in his games, but also announce features just a BIT too early. For better or for worse, Nintendo has always strayed away from both of those things, and according to an article released today from European technology website About-Electronics, they have finally gotten a developer ticked off by their antics.

First of all, lets discuss how Nintendo differentiates from these two idiosyncrasies, shall we? For one thing, instead of giving people freedom, Nintendo has always put people, especially 3rd party developers, into a mold that they have to somehow follow. Nintendo showed this by not letting them use Miis in the early Wii games, and this story follows a vaguely similar scenario.

Then, there's the obvious thing, that good ol' Ninty announced the Wii Motion Plus TOO LATE, at least according to Lucasarts. You see, in case you didn't know, these guys were working on a Star Wars lightsaber-fighting game for the Wii based of the Clone Wars movie (which sucked, by the way; don't see it). If they would've known that this kind of technology was available, and were able to easily harness it, then MAYBE, they claimed, they would be able to make the game better than the movie it was based on. Not the highest hurdle anyway, but I could understand why they're mad about this.

While we're not 100% sure on this, many analysts predict that this is all because of the above policy of Nintendo, where they tried to keep their special features and technologies a secret so that only THEY could use it. In fact, Game Informer states that:
Quote:
Aside from Nintendo’s own roster of games, users won’t likely see any support for the device for at least six to nine months.
Now, I can understand how some of you guys feel: Some of you are frustrated at this move, some don't care, and some of you are even mad at ME for pointing out this gaping flaw in Nintendo's policies. But as with all news, we just have to see into this as the game's November release date approaches. Our friend Pete has to often step up to the podium to apologize, so from where we stand on knowledge of this issue, either party could make this right.

It doesn't NEED to do anything with the article, it's about Lucasarts, after all.

I don't see how a gorilla-bear thing strangling what looks like a mailman has to do with anything in this Article.

Re: Lucusart's "Furious" Over Wii Motion Plus

the pic is that chewbaka thing in starwars, which if you read the article, makes sense.
Anyways I've been waiting for something like this to come out. Maybe we'll see some cool sword fighting games in the future which allow you to actually maneuver the sword accordingly, and I'm not talking about relative imitation, I mean all out: you swing the wiimote and the sword moves *exactly* like the way you intended it. Now that would be badass!
