I don't know if you guys are as fond of Tim Burton as I am, but if you're into movies that are actually half-funny, then you've probably seen the black space comedy Mars Attacks. Throughout that classic 1996 film, our good friend Jack Nicolson knew the truth: The aliens really WERE the good guys after all! Unfortunately, some crazy old lady and her donut-obsessed son had to ruin the fun for them, but Square Enix and Taito have been friends with all sorts of "Space Invaders" for 30 years, and have already scheduled an attack on earth slated for this October.
In human language, this basically means that Space Invaders: Get Even is coming to Wiiware, at least for Europe. As the name suggests, it's up to you to manipulate your alien forces and destroy the earth. Other known features for the game include:
*Intense action-invasion where the roles have reversed and you, and your Space Invaders are attacking Earth!
*Control mysterious UFOs and give orders to hordes of Space Invader underlings, as you attempt to destroy the feeble human weaponry
*Five unique attack modes to fit any battle situation you will face. Choose between Shot, Homing, Burst, Drill and Hopping
*Be prepared to battle the onslaught of Earthling technology including Tanks, Battleships, Fighter Planes, Fortified Buildings, Attacking Helicopters, not to mention the Bosses!
*Battle across seven unique gaming environments
*Upload your High Scores via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and battle for the world’s highest score!
As a hardcore Space Invaders fan, I'm glad to see that the series is heading to
Wii, but will this new twist on the classic formula help or hinder the gameplay? I guess we'll have to see this Halloween. In the meantime, you guys really should watch Mars Attack again to observe the Martians' battle tactics. Besides, it's the funniest space opera. Ever.
