Everyone was disappointed at Nintendo at the Electronic Entertainment Expo this year because they didn't announce any core games. All that was announced were games for the casual crowd. Surely GrandTheftAuto: Chinatown Wars was announced for the Nintendo
DS, but where's is that new Legend of Zelda game, or a new Pikmin game? It was truly disappointing. Nearly right after the press conference, Shigeru Miyamoto stated that a new Mario, Zelda and Pikmin game are in development.
Yesterday, Nintendo was interviewed by Edge Magazine. Nintendo talked about why they didn't include any core games at E3 and when we might see a new core game. Nintendo said,
“We have never neglected our core gamers. We still have developers working on popular core gaming franchises but we need longer to complete these games, approximately two to three years. These games are not ready to launch in early 2009 but are being worked on by all development teams.”
Fanboys are going to wait for a long time until we see a new Legend of Zelda game to the Nintendo
Wii. Maybe it's sooner, who knows. Hopefully the core audience can live off of Animal Crossing: City Folk for two years until other core game releases.
