All that was announced were games for the casual crowd. Surely GrandTheftAuto: Chinatown Wars was announced for the Nintendo DS, but where's is that new Legend of Zelda game, or a new Pikmin game? It was truly disappointing. Nearly right after the press conference, Shigeru Miyamoto stated that a new Mario, Zelda and Pikmin game are in development.
Yesterday, Nintendo was interviewed by Edge Magazine. Nintendo talked about why they didn't include any core games at E3 and when we might see a new core game. Nintendo said, “We have never neglected our core gamers. We still have developers working on popular core gaming franchises but we need longer to complete these games, approximately two to three years. These games are not ready to launch in early 2009 but are being worked on by all development teams.”
Fanboys are going to wait for a long time until we see a new Legend of Zelda game to the Nintendo Wii. Maybe it's sooner, who knows. Hopefully the core audience can live off of Animal Crossing: City Folk for two years until other core game releases. | | | | | | | Re: Nintendo says no core games in early 2009 "A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever." | | | | | Re: Nintendo says no core games in early 2009 I can see why it would take so long to make a new legend of zelda, mario or pikmin game. They're all about quality when it comes to core games. I can imaine trying to think of a new zelda game for the wii! Gotta think of a new story, items, dungeons, enemies, bosses, game world, people, text for every character, etc... the list could go on and on!! I expect zelda to take quite a bit of time to make.
Maybe not so much with pikmin or mario but still...
It's gotta be stressful making a game that everyone expects should be 10x better than the last game they made. (which was already awesome to begin with!)
Oh well, all we can do is wait to see what we get! | | | | | | Re: Nintendo says no core games in early 2009 I rather see Nintendo create a new series besides playing out the more popular ones like LoZ. If not, then at least re-invent/bring back an older title like Sin and Punishment, Pit, and Punchout. Hell, a Wii veresion of Advance Wars wouldn't be that bad. | | | | | | Re: Nintendo says no core games in early 2009 Quote:

Andwtf is a veresion?
But I agree... Nintendo really should bring back a few old series. | | | | | | Re: Nintendo says no core games in early 2009 I looking forward to seeing a new LOZ game with a new playable character then playing Link all the time.
New features I want to see is:
new playable character Zelda/ Midna or a new character
new item: Bowgun
New mode: Multiplayer mini-games(with up to 4 players wireless)
New Super Mario game
New features wanted:
New mode: Yoshi Racers mini-games
A new story: because to me it seems like no mario game have no stories and less movies to me.
My story: about eggs. | | | | | | Re: Nintendo says no core games in early 2009 Quote:

Veresion is a typo for version. I don't care how much you try and tell me: BW2 is NOT Advance wars.
As far as LoZ goes, I want to see a OVERHAUL. I'm getting tired of playing the same game over and over and over... | | | | | | Re: Nintendo says no core games in early 2009 I think we'll see a new core game in the summer of 2009, and it will probably be something like New Super Mario Bros 2 or something, but for the Wii deffinitely. I think the DS has just about had it's day when it comes to core games. It's had Metroid, Mariokart, a few platforming Mario's, a Warioware, a Zelda game, an Animal Crossing game, a Pokemon RPG and many others. I've been saying this for a few months now, but I think the DS is coming to an end for the core gamers.
Before this summer, I went about 6 months without hardly playing my DS at all. In fact, the last game I bought was Phantom Hourglass in October of 2007, and I decided to complete it a 2nd time over the summer. I've currently got Final Fantasy IV on pre-order, but I doubt I'll buy anything else for my DS after that as there doesn't seem to be much more good stuff coming to it. Give it 2 years and a new handheld will be out for Nintendo. Many core gamers are abandoning their DS for the Wii now, with only casual gamers tuning in to Brain Training and Nintendogs. | | | | | | Re: Nintendo says no core games in early 2009 [quote=Tjharwin;937984] I think the DS has just about had it's day when it comes to core games. That don`t mean they should stop making core games for the DS. Quote:
