EA's Boogie franchise has had a weird past. First announced at E3 06, it was supposed to be an innovative dancing game for the
Wii that combined DDR, Tim Burton, and "groovy" motion controls. Unfortunately, when it was released in July 2007, all it got from the dance floor was a short review from James Rolfe in his Angry Video Game Nerd Christmas special. It fared a little better when it was ported to the
DS later that year, but to most music enthusiasts, it was still a disappointment.
Now, though, EA wants to start over with the new franchise by making a sequel, entitled Boogie Superstar. Not much is known about the game yet, but many of it's 40 tracks have been revealed, and, if you ask me, many of them are great. You can get the full list
here, but here are my personal faves:
Pocket Full of Sunshine-Natasha Bedingfield
Like Whoa-Aly and AJ
I Don't Wanna Be In Love-Good Charlotte
SOS-Jonas Brothers
Girlfriend-Avril Lavigne
Yahh!-Soulja Boy
I Don't Think About it-Emily Osment
This is coming from someone who's ideal thought of music is an hour with Radio Disney, but I have to say that, aside from Rock Band, this is one of the most promising track lists I've ever seen for a music game. And according to Natasha Bedingfield, who is fronting the tile, I'm not the only one who thinks that way.

Boogie SuperStar brings to life all the fun and excitement of performing. Being on stage is such a thrill and it’s great to be a part of an EA video game that lets girls experience how much fun it is to express themselves and explore their own creativity by performing.

Later, EA's worldwide executive for music and marketing, Steve Schnur, stated:

Boogie SuperStar represents a new level in the convergence of games and music. We have combined the very best interactive capabilities of the Wii technology with the Boogie brand to form an unprecedented soundtrack featuring the hottest new tracks made famous by the biggest artists in the world. We’ve been actively involved in Natasha’s career since its inception, and we’re proud to have a star like her actively involved.

The original Boogie's sing-and-dance mechanics haven't been mastered by any competitors yet (not even 2005's Karaoke Revolution Party), so if they're able to pull it off, this could be a great
Wii exclusive, not to mention a possible family-friendly alternative to other music games.
