Pokemon Platinum fastest selling DS game ever.
A Nintendo handheld console without a Pokemon game is a handheld console no one wants to own. For that reason exactly, the Pokemon franchise has broken lots and lots of sales records since it debuted on the Game Boy over a decade ago. As I'm sure many of you are aware, the latest Pokemon game appropriately titled "Platinum Version", was just released in Japan and in just two short days, had sold over 967,675 units. By the third day, Platinum Version went "Platinum" by selling it's millionth unit, and is still selling out as I type.

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl versions combined sold 1.58 million during their first week on sale in Japan, and for Platinum to have almost reached that spot at only two days on sale, you can bet that records will continue to be broken.

To this day, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl has sold 5,571,456 units, and Platinum is expected to sell even more. We will keep you posted.

It's out already in Japan. Wow I assumed it was going to come out for all countries in 2009.

D/P came out in October in japan and april for us
Sence they get platinum in September, shouldnt we get ours in March?
I figured this out cuz i got a pokemon off the GTS and it said: Capture date: Oct 25 2006

So i just have to say 1 thing about the sales records...

IT'S OVER NINE THOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUSAAAAAAAAAAAAAND!!!!!! !!!!!!!

that may be true for emeral version and crystal and the other one but i have this game and i must say is really like a new one they really did change a lot of stuff in this game better wifi new poke sprites way better story line and many other things if fell like a new game

'cos it ISN'T the same game, man!

Diamond and Pearl may be more or less the same (they have minor differences). But Platinum... PLATINUM! That's THE GAME, the definitive version.

Don't expect to see a new pokémon-RPG game like those before a new nintendo handheld hit the market. Maybe a remake, but not an original one.

That's the way it is...

Gaaaaahhhhhh, I think we've heard enough from that line forever now....no offense.

Anyway, D/P came out on September 28th, 2006 in Japan, so really, I'd expect that if it takes as long as D/P did to translate, we'd have the game by early April at the earliest.

Firts of all, b4 I comend on the PKMN game, I would like to say that this post has an offensive part to the NDS: "A Nintendo handheld console without a Pokemon game is a handheld console no one wants to own." What do MEAN no one would like to own a Nintendo (NDS!) handheld console!? Not just because PKMN is out there, doesn't mean peeps arn't going to get a (NDS) Nintedno handheld console!!!! Dude, you are very mistaken right there. Just the NDS alone with no games, ppl WOULD buy it!! Plus this Nintendo handheld has other good games other than PKMN. >: (

Getting back to topic now: this game has alot of fans, so I do think the sells are going to be crazy in North America when it comes out. It's pretty cool, but I just hope it has some new features, just like the D/P version had. Because it's basicly the same old thing over and over... and over again.... oh well, cool game.

P.S. The "over nine thousand" is still hot. lol
