We heard quite a while ago about Activision wanting to "expand" the Guitar Hero series by introducing new peripherals to the mix, with them stating any new instruments would require their own game. Well as you would expect, Activision has begun doing just that. An in-house developer, FreeStyleGames, is apparently working on a new rhythm based game, which we will just call "DJ Hero".
DJ Hero will come with a DJ deck-style controller with sampling buttons and a cross-fader. The game will most likely play very similarly to the music rhythm games currently out there. The title will include songs from artists such as 50 Cent, Beastie Boys, Beyonce and Jimi Hendrix, with many more still to be confirmed.
DJ Hero has been set for a Summer 2009 release.
