Rockband (one) finally coming to Australia.
As the rest of the world is going crazy and preparing for the next installment to the plastic-guitar-mashing genre--Rockband 2, Rockband 1 finally weasels its way into Australia for a release date of November 7th. Yikes! At least we are no longer giving into the rumour that it was never coming.
Rockband 1 for Australians will offer separately sold items and will be priced at 250 AUD, or 208 USD for those that are being nosy. Which is decent compared to the insane price the Europeans had to pay at nearly £180/€240/$300.

I had no idea the Aussies didn't have this yet, I was actually quite reluctant to believe this story. I hope you enjoy it for the three years you have until Rockband 2 finally reaches you.

I couldn't find any specific system details so I assume the release date is for all of the platforms.

I'm telling all Australians this now, especially the Wii owners: Don't waste your money on Rock Band, it costs more than Guitar Hero World Tour (which comes out five days later) and if you are a Wii owner, you are paying for a straight PS2 port (no DLC, character creator or online modes).

Harmonix really screwed this up. Rock Band 2 is out in the US and Australia has just gotten a release date for the first one.

Ya, pretty much what he said. Wii players shouldn't settle for neutered games.

Because of what Harmonix did for the wii version is why I went the guitar hero route. When they did not release it I decided I'll just get guitar hero 3 instead of shelling out for a 360. When they finally port it it is a ps2 port but it is almost a year late. if I wanted that bad I would have just bought it for ps2. Great job harmonix screwing the wii owners over like that.

Oh and don't get me started about insane europe prices and now the year late release in Australia.

I do want everyone to know that I'm not being anti-Rock Band by saying this, but if you are Australian you are FAR better off buying Guitar Hero World Tour. Better price and better features.

I agree... I personally like Rock Band more, but Australians are getting screwed over here. Big time.
