Sony and Microsoft to drop out of console race next generation? -
09-27-08
This is no hard evidence that a PS4 or new Xbox console will be non-existent, but the figures expressed here are worth taking into account. Alex St. John, CEO & Founder of WildTangent (a PC game network), seems to think that after the PS3 and Xbox 360 have come to an end, Microsoft and Sony...

Microsoft and Sony are both supposedly working on new consoles, but they wouldn't come out until 2012 at the earliest.

Sony are currently selling the PS3 for much less than it costs to manufacture and Microsoft lost billions with all the hardware faults the first Xbox 360's had. The next generation is still a couple of years away, so it's anyone's guess what Microsoft and Sony choose to do.
Nintendo has already confirmed that they are working on a "Wii2".

The world would end by that time, so I'm not looking forward to that.

Re: Sony and Microsoft to drop out of console race next generation?
Those other gaming consoles you mentioned, those are cheap ones, they won't compete with Nintendo. They run on Qualcom (however you spell that) chips, but they are not meant to compete with any of the major gaming consoles. Its like a super cheap game systems that runs PC games or something. The second one you mentioned, that one is most focused on downloadable games, again, very simplistic, not high tech at all.
We need Sony and Microsoft in the race. I know for a fact they won't drop out. I just really trust my gut instinct.

Re: Sony and Microsoft to drop out of console race next generation?
Oh wow, that's the first time I have seen the OnLive. I feel stupid now, LOL. It looks pretty nice, but it does have several drawbacks. The best thing they could do would be to personally sell a massive storage device. It would be like a external hard drive that you could attach to the USB ports. That way you don't have to use your computers memory, and to ensure you can have save files. If you run out of memory on your computer, your kinda screwed without external memory for it.
It looks like it could turn out pretty nice though, for the people that have internet near their TV or Wifi. (It does have built in wifi, right?) LOL
