No Covers in Guitar Hero World Tour Studio Mode.

If you have been wanting to buy Guitar Hero World Tour just so you can rip out a heavy metal remix of the Super Mario Bros. theme song to share online, you may be slightly disappointed to learn that you will not be allowed to do that. Activision has announced that if anything found on the GH Tunes is either copyrighted, or sounds like something copyrighted, it will be removed.

Quote:
"We'll be actively monitoring the site. And, obviously, if the copyright holder complains, Activision will pull it down immediately. We can't condone people putting up covers of music. It's really there for original content."
What's worse, is that anyone who excessively disobeys these rules will have their system banned from Activision's online service. However, you should be able to create and keep any music stored offline on your machine without any issues.

Hello censorship. People have gotten rather greedy haven't they. Oh well. Hopefully this'll still be a good game.

You'd think that Nintendo wouldn't mind, since it's on the Wii anyway. If an Xbox 360 owner did it maybe, but their shouldn't be any issues with making any heavy metal Nintendo tunes on the Wii service.

It's for any song. Kind of common sense though, the artist wouldn't have allowed it or anything. That's why you can't put vocals into a song you make.

Re: No Covers in Guitar Hero World Tour Studio Mode.

Does anyone know if songs will be transferrable via SD, onto another person's Wii SD? If this was the case, a system such as IGN's Smash Bros. one could be put up.

Actually, the closest thing it infringes is trademark, not copyright (there is a big difference). Even then, you cant actually trademark "tunes".
