Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol

Console: Nintendo Dual-Screen
Release Date: October 2, 2007
Publisher: Nintendo
Developer: Skip Ltd.
Players: 1
ESRB Rating: E for Everyone (E10+)

Introduction: In a world with desolate parks and tiny robots that bend to your whim, there is Chibi-Robo! He's been deported to park duty and must fight off the evil plague that is spreading nationwide over parks everywhere! Find out if this game gets my approval or not further on down.

Storyline: You start off at Citrusoft learning the way to use your tools. You are then sent out to a park that looks like a dessert to start growing flowers! The game continues this trend until you meet one of the antagonists. Cut scenes happen about every two upgrades, so you can kind of guess when one is going to happen. The storyline really is just OK.

Personally, the original Chibi-Robo was much better, it had drama, love, and best of all: aliens! I guess you could consider Park Patrol good for a DS game, but still, games shouldn't really be critiqued depending on what system they are on, it really doesn't matter. The storyline could be better, but it works.

Graphics: The graphics are pretty solid for the system, however they could use some polishing. They are kind of blocky, but it's OK if you've gotten used to this for DS games. There isn't much more to say about the graphics, except that they are just about average, I've seen better on a DS.

Game play:
The game is pretty much the same day, after day, after dull day. You plant flowers, maybe go to town, build things and recharge. It can get very dull, and that is an understatement, but I do it for you guys. After beginning the game, some time in, you will get enemies to defeat, which are more annoying than challenging. The final boss battle is really the same thing you do every day, and very dull, only this time planting the flowers is harder because you have enemies constantly being spawned.

Longevity: This game's length is like those energizer bunnies, they go on ,and on ,and on ,and on.... you'll be playing the same thing over, and over, and over for a very long time. Seeing as the game play is very repetitive and the game is rather long, you'll be getting VERY bored. You basically have a limit of flowers over 1000, so you'll be playing for a long time. I actually felt like finishing it all, and it wasn't even a good reward in my opinion. If you do feel like finishing this game to the end, good luck to you.

Sound: Chibi-Robo, being a robot, the game has a lot of robotic sounds. along with this, it has some instrumental sounds. The music, for the most part is good, and probably the only redeeming feature of this poor sequel. The music is good, but still not as good as the prequel to this game. It's just sad that it couldn't turn out as solid as the last.

Overall: This game isn't worth your time. If you were thinking of buying this game, don't! I LOVE Chibi-Robo, but it's just not as good as the first game.

I bought for 5 bucks too, and it's really fun when you finish it, because then you get different features, like a race track, a giant river, a mountain and more!
