you obviously haven't really played the game.
because its pretty much a giant guessing game.
You get small hints as to where to go. As a kid who first played this game you'd have no idea where to go and because the internet wasn't really around that time(for the general public at least) you had to go find an Encyclopedia and find the correct time and also know what item it is. No one wants to take an hour or longer just to search for something about an Apple. Seriously an Apple yeah good hint their every kid should know about Newton's Law. It was only the trendiest thing in the 90s.
Not only that, but you'd have to guess what year those specific events took place, where and either A.D or B.C.
Edutainement games were meant for the younger audience so no way would a kid have that much of an attention span to scroll through numbers to find the exact year
If you want a Edutainment game go play Clue Finders.
At least that was mildly entertaining(back then)
Seriously I like black sheep titles, but those games are abysmal.
So yeah, sure was a fun game/sarcasm.

when I rented this as a kid, I was so disapointed cuz thats when I found out that a Mario game could be lame lol. and I never figured out how to even get somewhere with that time machine, all I did was surfing and grabing mushrooms >.>
What the npcs tell you is not even enough so if you didnt listen in class (wut) you are gonna suck at it xD
hey now, i actually liked this game a bit for what it was.
i'm a history nut, pure and simple, even when its kids history like this game gave...idk i just still liked it.
also the music.
but overall i didn't like it near as much as mario is missing.
of course, both are edutainment games, so the love for em can only go so far..
mario is missing for the SNES however still imo has some of the best remixes of the super mario world theme i've seen, and the BEST music overall for an edutainment game, (fun fact; the music themes for all the super mario world levels had the exact same melody for every level, just remixed to fit the mood of the level, mario is missing took that same theme..adn remixed it, to fit the theme's of the current country/state luigi was in.)
of course if you like history its a different thing, but its a weird mix imo.. super mario + education :S
but then again, maybe it was a way to get ppl's attention.
well of course it was made to grab peoples attention :P
marketing stratigy
why do you think super mario bros 2 in america was originally doki doki panic in japan(i believe tha was the right one) the *real* super mario bros 2 that was released in japan, was deemed WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to difficult by american gamers and didn't seem to add alot gameplay wise other then insane difficulty, so it never got released here until super mario allstars came along on the SNES, and it was renamed the "lost levels"
and nintendo of america felt that Doki doki panic probably wouldn't sell that well in america, but thought the gameplay was unique and original enough that it should be given a chance....
but to ensure that it could sell well they changed all the pixils into mario characters, since anything with mario on the label in the 80s sold like a drug. :P
....
....
and i just ended up going on a pointless overdrawn post for no reason...
bakc on topic.
ya i love history, so ya that is why i liked mario's time machine.
but i honestly liked mario is missing more, but like i said, fun in an edutainment game can only go so far.
had mario is missing not had the neat little sprite drawn photos of real landmarks, or the awesome music, i probably wouldn't of liked it near as much.
wtf..? i just listed the exact thing you said...?
doki doki panic is super mario bros 2 in america...
the real super mario bros 2 was deemed to difficult by american gamers and rereleased as the lost levels in super mario allstars...
i listed all that already in my other post exactly....adn you just said i wasn't talking about the same game....?
:s wtf?![]()
