Because the patch needed to force updates wasn't implemented until 3.4.

Even if you needed an IOS to play a certain game, all you have to do is rip the game to your computer, extract the IOS, install it, and start playing. You don't need to take updates from games to make them work. The Wii is the next-gen version of the Dreamcast and Nintendo can't do anything about it.

Oh silly me *facepalm* forgot about that factor.

I still say its to much trouble for that crap. So I'm keeping it uninstalled.

As for destroying the homebrew, I could have guessed. Wii can't have a successfull Homebrew because of updates. Eventually people with Homebrews will not update, Nintendo will find I way for everyone with WiiConnect to update without choose and Homebrew will be forced to die.
I don't personally care whether or not people use Homebrew but if I were Nintendo I would be ticked off.

Hmm I already updated. Nothing has happened since I updated. Besides what's the big fuss about anyway? So they can "monitor you and shut down your wii", who gives a flying fudge? It's not like they know who you are. XP

I don't see where everyone is getting this "Nintendo is watching you" crap.

There is like a bajilion wii users out there, and the chances of them actually looking at you would be slim. Besides, I think its an evasion of privacy, expecially when using the internet channel.

Nintendo never said in their ToS or whatever that they would be spying on you, otherwise the people at the homebrew community would have said so. They only thing they talked about was the automatic updates.

I could be wrong though, I'll look over it again.
