My quick review on the
Wii version.
Day = Fun
Night = Slow, not so fun
Too much night, not enough day. 3 - 5 Night stages for every day stage.
Wii version has no hub worlds, replaced with crappy Sonic Rush style cutscene overworld.
Some parts feel like they're missing. Ex: Tails gets surrounded by enemies, looks like a boss battle before cutscene ends. After ending, immediately loads another cutscene with all enemies dead.
Sub Games appear to be absent from the
Wii version.
Wii doesn't get Empire City (WAH!!!) or Mizuri (Except Boss)
Story isn't much
Cutscenes look nice, voice acting is alright
Lot's of unlockables (concept art, music, cutscenes and tips)
Each day stage has 1 main part for 2-D, the other 2-D parts being areas where you run through loops etc.
To be honest, the game would be alot better if there were more daytime stages. All stages get 1 day stage, and 3 - 5 night stages. Also the night stages are twice as long as the day, making the 40% night time play we were told about more like 80%. Personally, I think the game is awesome looking at only the day stages. The new gameplay feels like Secret Rings done right, combined with some oldskool type 2d play and it's quite enjoyable. However the night time stages feel long, and pointless. Also navigating through the world maps, and talking with villagers is slow and pointless feeling, however if you want to advance through the game you have to. I remember hearing somewhere that this would be possible to skip, however I was unable to find a way to do so. Anyway, that's the gist of my views on the title.
