broken ds light hinge

So my older brother threw his ds when I shot him with a dart gun . The hinge is slightly out of place and I'm wondering what he should do. He still has a warrenty on it so should he send it to nintendo? Let me hear your thoughts.

If you call Nintendo they will ask you what happened to it, or if you dropped it stuff like that and if you tell them that he threw it they will say the warranty doesnt cover that so just lie to them and tell them that you handle your DS with care because you dont want to break it.

No because if you lie to them it will be ''covered'' because of the warranty.

1. You shot him with a "DART gun"!?
2. Why would he throw his DS as a weapon? He does not deserve one if he's going to do that.
