What would be best?

This is from the mini off topic decision in the Star Fox Wii thread. I was saying we need to get rid of the original Nintendo mascots and use different games as mascots.

I am basically saying get rid of our childhoods, but it would make the games unique and fresh.

Why get rid of the older mascots? I haven't go tired of them yet. Well, I'm no longer a fan of Zelda but still.

Because the games have gotten stale, pokemon, mario, and the rest are just all the same just with newer gimmicks..

I believe there can be a balance. No need to get rid of all the mascots but we do need to focus on some new ones. Pikmin were Nintendo's last big mascots. However, now with things the way they are developers (mostly nintendo) are afraid to deviate from the formula for fear of failure and financial loss. What would you rather buy with you money? A Mario title? or a New hook featuring a new world and character? Most likely Mario. People are also afraid to try untested things for fear of quality and longevity of the title.

Whatever happens we need to find something new. I myself have been waiting for a new set of characters to fall in love with, alas...nothing yet.

If only Nintendo was like valve, valve has no mascot yet they are highly respected by the gaming community and people are willing to try any game they make.

Nintendo used to have fans who would try any game they made until about a year ago.

i agree that some things are being overused, but i dont think that they should just be dropped.

Thanks to shovelware and Terrible 3rd party games, Nintendo can be described as a joke by some.

However for some reason, i still have faith. Ive been a NintyNaught for my whole life. So i just hope that they create a new catch. Come on Miyamoto...

Like I said. I haven't gotting tired of them yet. I still love Mario and Metroid to death as well as Mega Man and Castlevania. If Nintendo or any other company wants to make a totally different fancise, fine. Maybe I'll love it as much as the older mascots. As least as I have my favorite charaters around, I'm not compaining.
