On a side note, I prefer protagonists that talk, it makes it more interesting seeing that they can express thought rather than be silent, that is why I love Bowser so much, every time he is on the good side, he talks the most. I am looking forward to getting Brutal Legend cause too my knowledge the main character talks with what he is doing. I would want Link to talk, then he won't seem like a blank board.

I think the appeal of non-speaking characters is that the player can project their own feelings and self-image onto the character.
I.E. If Link were to say "I fight because I must", when he kills something, that would go fine with people who are who respect that mindset, but several people (including me) don't like that mindset, we'd rather smash everything, and fill in the blanks with our imaginations. This is why many people don't like X from Mega Man X. In the first 3 X games, he was, for the most part, silent, but in X4, he started having lots of dialogue and character development. Later on, X turned into a whiny emo, and everyone switched to Zero, because he was more "lol i cut u".
