    Voice Acting in Zelda

As more and more generations of the Zelda series emerge, this question is being asked more frequently as the games improve in graphics and characterization.
Should Nintendo add voice acting to Zelda titles? Now, the question has a lot of implications. It's not simply about giving the characters voices. It raises questions that would transform the games as we know them.
    Would Link finally speak?
What would the characters be like if they talked instead of making grunting sounds, and saying the occasional short phrase?
I have a few fan dubs which I think are not bad examples of what this could mean.

Keep in mind that the guy who made the Twilight Princess one purposely didn't keep to what the text on screen says. He was trying to match mouth movements more than anything. In my opinion, Link is done very well, and I don't mind him speaking at all.

This one...the girls sound a bit cheesy, but I really use this for the Deku Tree voice.

And last but not least...the Demon Lord Ghirahim. I think this one is very good; could have used improvement in places, but overall satisfying. Especially the laugh at the end.

I'm against it. I actually favor the silent heroes over the vocal ones.

Link isn't suppose to have vocals. When nintendo came up with link they silented him because he is suppose to portray your feelings.

    Re: Voice Acting in Zelda

I think link should always be mute, he is and always should be the silent protagonist. Having link not speak is a way to engage the character more and voice acting usually requires different dialogue.
As an example; Look at Metroid Other M, they gave samus a voice, now that's all well and good but it also broke all the bonds we had with her as the isolated, silent badass she is, I don't want to see that happen to my most beloved franchise (Zelda, if you didn't guess).

If voice acting was to be done, then it would have to be like Metroid Prime 3, were everyone else speaks but samus. If that were to happen then I could be happy, link doesn't have dialogue in nearly any zelda game, so having everyone else voice acted could work. Even if they did that, not to sound racist, but the voices would have to be british IMO. It might be the fantasy/medieval style that makes british voice acting fit this, it really helped Xenoblade, which I really would have disliked with american voice actors.
Final Fantasy used american voice actors and i've never thought it suited the style at all. I know your probably thinking 'then what about japanese', but then I would be reading subtitles putting me back at square one.

I would prefer him not talking. When you are playing the game you get a picture in your mind of what the character would sound like if they talked and you get used to it and like. If they introduced voice acting it could sound totally different than what your imagination thinks the character sounds like. It would be awkward and hard to get used to for me.

A blast from the past signature.

    Re: Voice Acting in Zelda

The First video was good because i rather have him not talking but the pedestrians talking. Link has a uniqueness when he doesn't talk but is still able to understand things. It makes him much more different from others when he doesn't talk at all. The people of the village should be able to talk since it would help out with a better understanding of what you have to do in the gameplay, although I don't mind reading subtitles since that's pretty much my hobby when it comes to watching Anime. Though, voice acting would be pretty decent for know since were in a generation of innovation and revolution. Its time to leave the old school formulas behind and evolve the pikachu into a raichu already. Some people may disagree with me but thats just life. I may be carrying around the Original old school DS but soon or later im going to have to get a Nintendo 3DS.

So voice acting should be implanted in the new Zelda titles for the future. Thats all

...writing long post really isn't my thing XD

hmm, haven't you heard of Tetra's Trackers? It came out the same time as four swords GC did in Japan, I think it was the first game to have full voice acting for everyone besides link. It never got localized my guess is because Nintendo didn't think it was worth localizing(voice acting problem maybe). I've seen it occasionally at a game shop I go to but it was in Japanese so I never picked it up.

I also think in Wind Waker link says COME ON! which i guess its enough to consider he does speak technically although each link are not the same Links which explains why Four Swords were made. There are different Links but there isn't just one person named Link supposedly

I've played Tetra's Trackers (Illegal download, but still), it was quite interesting to hear Tetra speak, but I actually thought the voices were really good in that.
