I guess I would say Mario. I never have played a Zelda game(yeah...I know. WHAT?! YOU'VE NEVER PLAYED A ZELDA GAME?!)

loz games are better because of the traps and cool enemies and bosses and unique items ganon.jpg
I would say: "It doesn't matter because both were made by the same awesome guy." I've lived with both my entire life, but since I've lost track of which Mario game has been currently released, I'm going with Zelda this time.
Most recent Zelda game released: Ocarina of Time AGAIN
Most recent Mario games released: Super Mario 3D Land and soon Paper Mario Sticker Star
At least Mario hasn't released the same game 3 different times for 3 different consoles with little to no difference between them. Now though, mario games are released often, but to be honest, they release new games almost just as often, with more variation in how they work. The only vastly different Zelda game is Zelda 2.
Also, I need to learn to not make mistakes the FIRST time I write something.
Mario is for a fun time, Zelda is for sure greatness.
Better and worse are simply opinions, I believe they both have strengths and weaknesses and as they are from the same guy, you just gotta love the guy's work overall in both fields. Mario is made for the family to be able to pick up and play but when it comes to Zelda, you must be able to put down some time to work on the puzzles and strategies needed in order to complete a major or minor part of the game. This is some great balance by Shigeru Miyamoto which is definitely something to take notice. For me personally, I love both equally because of the vast differences between them, I love both worlds and characters and I can't help but admire the work needed to be put into each one. It's like comparing Metroid to Sonic, you can't just simply pick up a Metroid game and play very quickly on the go, with Sonic you can, but with Metroid you need to be able to maneuver and move out. I'm not saying they're made by the same guys, but still, they're different genres, one being platform (Mario) while the other being more puzzle genre (Zelda)
