How do you clean a DS Screen? - 01-28-08

When I first got my DS, it looked brilliant. As time has gone on, however, the screens are starting to wear. I'm not exactly sure how, but there are some sort of dots of dust or something on the top screen, it almost looks like someone was poking it with a stylus, even though I never have. The top screen also has some tiny scratches on it that can be annoying if the light shines in just the right way. The bottom screen has been easier to clean, I just rub a t-shirt over it till everything is gone, but I'm kinda hesitant to to that to the top screen, because whenever I even touch that top screen, I see some kinda black spot appear then vanish right where I touched it. I don't want to break my DS, but I want it to look clean and pretty.

How is the best way to clean the top screen?
Is there some sorta screen protector that you can get?

Thnx!

Don't worry about breaking it. The top screen is the easy one, I don't know what the black spots are but clean it like you do the bottom.

OK, I'll continue on doing that. The black spots are ... well... hard to explain. In the spots where I rub the screen, everything just turns black for a few seconds, then restores itself to normal color. It'd be like if you were to push really hard on a calculator screen, all of the 88888888's would turn black and rainbowy colors. Thx for the tip ;)

The top screen changes when you push it because it is a LCD screen which is made up of tiny crystals. Just be gentle and you'll be fine, also it is best to clean it when it is switched off.:)

I never thought that turning it off would make a difference, but it did. The spots are completely gone from the screen! Thnx for the advise :)

Lastly, would it be worth it to look into buying a screen protector, or would I just be wasting money?

I didn't get them because I read somewhere that once you took them off it left a sticky residue of the screen. But my friend said that only some do that. So if you plan to buy them make sure they don't, because it doesn't help anything if you can never take the protector off. It's not worth it for me because I got a used DS that isn't a lite, but I'd say go for it.

That usually only happens if you put your DS in hot areas, then the residue gets extra sticky.

I'd suggest only getting your DS Screen Protector if your know your heavy handed and going to damage the screen using it. If you just take good care of your DS, and not stab too hard with the stylus etc, you should be just fine.

That wouldn't work on the bottom screen. But yeah for the top screen it works.
