I've been thinking about doing this for some time, and now, here it is. I, as part of management of my local Gamestop, shall bring you news on what's happening inside the biggest video game retailer in the country!!
I'd like to state that even though most of the information posted in these threads will be Nintendo related, there is bound to be some Sony and Microsoft mentions!! I will try to keep these up to date, maybe once a week I shall bring forth a new volume.
What will be featured in these little postings? Trade promotions going or right now, new reservation titles, statistics, and some inside information (at least whatever I can divulge :P)!!
So, without further a-do, let's get started!!
Hot New Reservations
Please keep in mind these new titles that are available for reservation at your local Gamestop!!
The World Ends With You (DS):
This title is developed by the same people who made Kingdom Hearts. The story revolves around Neku and Shiki, two youngsters who are forced to play a terrible game by a group called "Shinigami" (Or Death Gods). The battle system is quite innovative, as you use both screens for the battle sequences (As Neku is in one screen and SHiki in the other). This action RPG will hit store shelves in Spring.
Wii Fit
Yep, the long awaited Family Exercise Machine has finally appeared in our systems. The game will be bundled with the
Wii Balance Board, an astonishing piece of technology that is sensitive enough to analyze how much you shift your weight, but sturdy enough to be used as a normal exercise board. Yoga, soccer, BMI... all in one!! We don't have a price yet, but we were informed that "due to the elevated price of this package, the minimum reserve amount will be $10 instead of the regular $5".
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2
These titles are not brand new to the reserve list, but it is worth mentioning them :). Travel the world around as a pokemon!! You can start the game off with one out of 16 pokemon (Pikachu, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Treeko, Mudkip, Torchic, Piplup, Turtwig, Chimchar, Skitty, Munchlax or Meowth!! [Gotta admit I am very upset about neither Eevee nor Psyduck being available anymore =\]. All pokemon except Shaymin and Arceus have been announced, and these last two might show up soon.
Mario Kart Wii w/Wheel
This anticipated sequel has been on the list for about two weeks, but not many people know about it!! Taking Mario-racing to a new level by using bikes as well as karts!! Old and new courses come bundled in this amazing game, and the official Nintendo steering wheel will be included free in this package!!
Smash Bros. Brawl Tournament and Midnight Launch
A couple weeks ago, every store got an e-mail announcing a possibility of the store having a midnight sale for the most hyped-up game in
Wii history so far!! Whether the stores will open at midnight, open early on Sunday or open regularly, depends on the number of reservations that particular store has (Stand-alone stores will need a minimum of 75, whilst Mall Stores need a minimum of 100 reserves to open at midnight).
Nintendo has also given permission to Gamestop to insert a copy of Brawl three hours before the expected launch date to hold a tournament in store. The winners of each store will battle it out with the winners of each store in the area, then the winners will duke out the other winners of the district. So on and so forth until the finale that will take place in California, all expenses paid.
The catch? You don't know which control scheme we will use >=D We might well use the Wiiremote setting, or plug in GCN controllers. Stay tuned for more information. (I hear it will be the Wiimote/Nunchuck setting.)

Gamestop stops distributing and accepting HD-DVD
Going along with the flow, Gamestop stores are now unable to take in HD-DVD Movies as trade-ins, as well as the XB360 HD-DVD player. Stores are to sell through their current stock and leave the HD-DVD format to rest.
Blu-Ray prevails.
