Ok, I've been listening to people lately, and it's been annoying me. A lot of things annoy me in this world, but I usually keep quiet to keep the peace, and because I don't want to seem like a total jerk/ass. But heck, I'm amongst Nintendo fans here so I'm sure you all share my opinion.
Why do all Microsoft and Sony fanboys believe the
Wii is for gheys? I'll tell you why. They're so wrapped up in their war-time FPS' and highly graphiced sci-fi RPG's and stuff that they refuse to believe that something like Mario Kart
Wii can be good. But what is the reason behind the hatred over the
Wii? It's simple. Those games that non of us come on these forums to play...much. I'm talking about
Wii Sports,
Wii Fit,
Wii Music, Brain Training (Brain Age to you Americans), Sudoku for
DS, and every other game which doesn't appeal to hardcore Nintendo gamers. Yes, that is why Nintendo's rep is going downhill.
Take your average 360 fanboy off the street, and ask him "What do you think of the
Wii?" He will say "I think it's kinda sad the way you swing your controller to control your tennis racket. I'd much rather be playing Halo 3 to be honest, because the online is thrillingly fun and I enjoy more adult games like that." Fair enough, I agree with him to some extent. But this is not the reason as to why the
Wii should be written off so soon.
The
Wii has so much going for it. I purchased a HDTV before Christmas, and a
Wii Component Cable. The CGI video sequences on games such as The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Resident Evil 4:
Wii Edition, Super Smash Bros Brawl and Super Mario Galaxy almost compare to those of the Xbox 360 when playing them in this mode. But why is it that these games are overlooked? It's simple. The
Wii is dominating market sales because of
Wii Sports and
Wii Fit. The
DS is doing the same with Nintendogs and Brain Training. So now, because of this, Nintendo fans are branded as a bunch of ••••• footing ballet dancers.
Is this fair? No. The
Wii has some amazing games on it which really do break the barriers on this cruddy "family friendly image." Take a look at Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles for example. When I'm playing 2 player on that with my cousin, both of us have
Wii Zappers, we have so much more fun than in an arcade game of Point Blank which costs us 50p a go. So, 60 go's adds up to the price of Umbrella Chronicles pretty much. I digress.
To get to the point, I hate it when these people keep stereotyping our favourite console over the pathetic adverts Nintendo keep putting out to boost sales. Do I blame them? No, they're making a lot of money and it's doing the company well. But I seriously hope that they do get back to their roots one day...
Next time you get into this conversation with someone who loves Xbox Live more than his family, just say "Have you played Brawl? Galaxy? Twilight Princess? Resi Evil 4? Okami? No More Heroes? Then stfu and go use the Ghost on Snowbound!"
