Wii Sports was the game Nintendo showed to the world at E3, and was also the first game someone who didn't work at Nintendo got to play. Now we have it. So, does it show just how innovative this system is.
When talking about
Wii Sports, we have to talk about the five games separately. They are, in order: Tennis, Bowling, Baseball, Golf, and Boxing. Each game is like its own little mini game and has its own records. And, since there they own game, they also have there own flaws and strengths
Tennis is the first, and it should be pointed out, the easiest to learn. Simply swing the
Wii remote to hit the ball. Your Miis will fallow it on there own. You notice that all of your swings correlate to how you swing the remote. Timing and how you hit it are key. This is the best place to start for a
Wii Sports newbie. Its simple, and it works. It also lets you play with four people.
Bowling is the real king, as it is the best of all the games. You play by holding the remote in front of you, pressing B, throwing back and then forward and release B. It a tad hard to get at first but it wont take you long. Not only is this mode fun, but it shows how good the physics are in this game. The ball curves just like in real life. Plus this is a great four player game; especially since it gives skill points in multiplayer.
Bowling is hard at first, but with practice you can get strikes too
Baseball is the next one, and my personal favorite. The batter swings to well, swing and the pitcher throws it like he/she would throw a baseball. You Can also hold A, B, and A+B for different swings. Here its more about timing. You have to hit it at the right time you you want a homer, and while it looks easy you'll soon find out that its MUCH harder then it looks. Most people will miss or hit fouls and outs. If you have alot of Miis on your console, then they will appear as part of
your teams, and for both players in Multiplayer mode. Although, it suffers from the same Baseball flaw, you have to be an expert to win. While pitching is easy, the computers are outstanding later on, and will hit almost everything.
Theres also Golf, but I have fount it to be the worse. The problem is control. Here you swing the Wiimote to hit the ball, but if you hit to hard you'll hook/slice it. To counter this you have to hold it like a real golf club. This will let you control your shot, but you still find yourself practicing to get the right one, and even then you'll still mess up, just not as much. This is even more so for putting; its alot more sensative then swinging, and persision is needed here. Expect high scores your first play though. Not only that, but your Mii has some jurky animations. Luckily, you can play 4 players, and it save skill points for multiplayer.
In golf, persision is key. Expecially when putting
Last is Boxing. In this one you use the remote and Knunchuk together. You have to swing then like fist. You'll miss ALOT until you realize you have to punch a but inwards to hit your foe. This is fun and engaging, but you don't get as much contact in Boxing. Also, if you punch fast enough you can almost always win. Not only that, but expect strain as this game is one real work out. Sadly, you need two knunchuks for multiplayer.
There are also some training modes that work like minigames. There are three for each with a total of 15. For the most part, there nice diversions, and good in themselves. The only one glaringly bad are the Tennis ones. They are hard and if you mess up you have to start over, so expect to do that ALOT! There is also a Fitness Age; which is much like a Brain Age. This is inaccurate really. It will givey ou three random training game, so it may come down to your skill in that training game, and not your overall fitness.
The graphical design is simple. Really simple, but it fits. Its graphical powerful, and your Miis seem to fit into there own little word. And like Brain Age, its not at all intimidating. Theres not much to say on sound. Its not there most of the time, although its defiantly cool to here the swishes and what not from the Wiimote.
The Sound is also heightened by the use of the Wiimote speaker. Like the graphics, the music is simple, but like said earlier, the speaker is the real winner here. When you swing, you hear it. When you punch, you hear it. It even does things like scream K.O. right into your Wiimote. This isn't much, but enough that its both cool and brings you more into the game.
What really makes this game is multiplayer. You'll find everyone loves this game. Almost anyone can pick it up and enjoy it right off the bat. The only down side is you need two Knunchuks to play Boxing, and not all the games support four people, but it still will make any party a blast.
Almost anyone can pick up a controller and join the fun. Tennis the best game to start of new players Closing Statement
While Wiisports wont dwindle the hours like another
Wii Action/Adventure game, it is fun and is great fior any multiplayer outing. This game is what Nintendo has been trying with the
Wii and it works well. It makes you mimic the motions like
real sports, which is surprising to say the least. Basically, this is the
Wii in one sports compilations.
Overall-4/5 Overview Graphics-Both powerful and fit the game well, but nothing amazing

This is a great game for both multiplayer and to show off the
Wii to your family and friends. I recommend it unless you are going to buy ALOT of other games.
