Introduction: Kid Icarus (also known as Pit) was the Captain of the Goddess Palutena's personal bodyguards. He was captured and imprisoned in the Underworld when Medusa's Army conquered Angel Land. Palutena magically sent Pit a bow and arrow, which he used to escape. He sets out on a mission to save Palutena and free Angel Land from Medusa's control. Pit has wings but he cannot fly (except in the final level.) By defeating lots of enemies, Pit will gain strength. Along the course of his journey, Pit will meet friends and foes, and be turned into an eggplant many times before this game is over!
Controls: The controls are pretty easy, you jump with A, shoot your arrows with B, move with D-Pad (And also aim your bow upwards), select to change weapons and start to pause the game. Thats it! I give the controls a
5/5.
Up: Aim your bow up
Down: Go through platforms/duck
Left: Move you character left
Right: Move you character right
A: Attack with your bow
B: Switch between weapons such as the hammer
Start: Pause the game/Show stats
Select: Switch weapon
Gameplay: This game is quite difficult, there are three worlds with four levels in each (Plus a final boss level) and two of those worlds, you are constantly climbing upwards. The hard thing about this is that Pit cannot fly even though he has wings and the platforms disappear as the screen scrolls up with you. You cannot backtrack in these levels and if you fall, you automatically die. However, there are merchants that sell a special type of wing that allows you to fly for a few seconds if you fall of a platform. There are even some bonus rooms that let you pick up hearts, which are used for currency, and mallets.

The gameplay is solid, and easy to pick up and play. There are alot of different enemies to fight to keep the game from becoming tedious. Boss battles are especially fun. The mallets you collect in the game are useless as a weapon, but is mainly used to break open statues which free angel warriors which will assist you in battle. I give the gameplay a
5/5. Graphics: For an NES game, the graphics are above par. The levels and enemies are well done, but they aren't mindnumbing. I give the graphics a
3.5/5
Sound: The sound in this game is annoying and tedious for most of the game. When you enter a room to
fight flying Noses, the music isn't half bad.
Here is a sample of the music you will be listening most of the time. I give the sound a
3/5.
"Hey look! Metroids!"
"Flying noses!? WTF!?"
Replay Value: There is some replay value in this game. The reason for this is because once you beat the game, you get a chance to play again with all your weapons and equipment you aquired through the game. The real replay value comes from the difficulty in the game. You may die many times until you beat it, which is the reason I give the replay value a
4/5
Pros:
+ The Game Play is Phenomenal
+ Lots Of Power-ups
+ Fun Boss Battles
Cons:
- The Game can get very frustrating at times
- Eggplant Wizards Are Annoying
- Some Enemies Steal Your Power-ups
Overall the game gets a
3.75/5. The game may have annoying music and it may be difficult, but I beat it one day. The game is longer and Harder than Super Mario Bros but is shorter and easier than Metroid for the NES. If you have some spare points you should purchase this game on the
Wii's Virtual Console. This isn't a main priority however, as there are a select few titles that are better then this one available.
