A question to all fellow Zelda nerds.

A few days ago I was hanging out at a friends house having a conversation about Zelda. One of my friends was explaining to me about how he refuses to play Twilight Princess on the Wii until he gets a copy of it on the Gamecube. He was telling me that he just didn't like the fact that Nintendo inverted the game to make Link right handed for Wii controllers. I say he just needs to get over that fact because its such a small change. What do you guys think on the matter?

Have him try to play through the game on the Wii a little bit, and see if he gets used to it. He can always use the Nunchuk in his left hand and Wiimote in his right, or vice versa, whichever is more comfortable. If he won't get used to it, and thinks it just ruins the whole game for him, then he can go ahead and waste his money by buying the GC copy.
To me, it shouldn't matter the way Link looks. He's still Link...

i love the wii version because link is taller and personally i just... well never played the GC version LOL
but i dont think it matters, there are ways of getting around that... didnt they do something like that in wind waker?

I don't see how it matters, Link is still the same, Wii or Gamecube. Like StrawberryFthrZ said, he can place the Wiimote in his left hand, and do the same controls as the right hand does. If he's still not satisfied, there goes money down the drain (or over the counter).

His problem with it is the fact that in every other Zelda game Link is left handed. The reason they inverted it on the Wii was to make Link right handed to make it feel better for the majority of people who are right handed. My friend just didn't like that Nintendo changed Link.

If he wants to get THAT into it, technically this isn't the same Link from previous games. He's just a descendant in a completely different world!
Maybe this generation of Link was just born right-handed!? Tell him to get over it! Haha

Actually, to be honest, I never realized the difference that in some games Link was left handed and in others he was right handed. x:

Well, your friend has the perspective of a Zeldatard (Zelda nerd is actually completely different, Zeldatard are those hardcore Zelda fans who are on Zelda communities, participate in those lovely timeline discussions, and know Majora's Mask is the best game in the series :p. A Zelda nerd, well, eh, isn't as hardcore, but perhaps has a good general knowledge of Zelda and its contents)
(And yes, I did just write a paragraph explaining the difference between two made-up terms)

The point is, that die-hard fans know link is left-handed, and that fact may actually play a role in important plot theories (for example, you know the Hero's Shade from Twilight Princess [the skeleton guy that also is a golden wolf], if you notice he's left-handed, a factor that contributes to the theory that the Hero's Shade is actually Link from Ocarina of Time).
Also, you know how everything is a mirror image between both games. People consider the GCN image "canon" because everything is placed like it was in Ocarina of Time, so maybe that's another reason why your friend prefers the GCN version.

My opinion? It's the same game, so I wouldn't care. But every true Zeldatard knows, the GCN version is superior because TP was made for the GCN, not for the Wii.
Let your friend pick whatever he wants :p
