The World ends with you looks pretty good. I'm gonna try that out.
But for exactly what you described, I'd say Final Fantasy Crytal Chronicles: The Rings of Fate.
I mean, it has a bit of online, but it's only 'Moogle Mail', or something like that. Meaning, you can send messages, as well as a moogle you painted, to your friends over Wi-Fi. But I've never even used it, so whatever.
The Single player is pretty extensive, with the occasional puzzles, bosses, and cutscenes(not to mention some voice-overs). It's definitely a satisfying game.
However, the game also has local multiplayer, which I can't wait to try out. It's essentially the same levels from the single player mode, except you can go through them with others. This mode plays more like the GC game, but of course the game itself is a lot different, so you'll have jumping, super attacks, etc. I just mean that you can make more than one character, select the race and gender, than just go to the levels. But once you play the single player, or just play multiplayer alone(which you can do, and it's not bad), you'll get an idea of how fun multiplayer would be.
Anyway, I think that it's your best choice.
