Japanese Game Review - 07-03-2008

Well i just got Super Robot Taisen Original Generation Saga Mugen no Frontier(Endless Frontier) (yes this is the full title) and its a very fun game in my perspective.
This is based on another universe of the OG line up(if anyone has played any of the OG games) this game isn't a tactical but more of a simple RPG even a child can pick up.
I can't fully understand the stroy so that part of the review will be skipped

Concept: Let me tell you the battle concept is very simple your basic attack buttons are A the left d pad and the right d pad thats it. Press the A button to use an attack the game gives you a certain amount of attacks. Each attack costs a certain amount of COM which their is 100% at the beginning of a battle and eacth attack costs a certain amount for example Ahsen(one of the playable characters) has an attack known as Divine Lancer which costs 30 CON they total up the amount and show how many times you can attack in a turn on the top screen of the top right hand corner(known as act rest) if you run out of act rests you can't attack till the next turn. And the COM wont go back to 100 instead they receive a small amount you can of course use items to increase your Com and HP but that might costs some COM as well so you can't just use items to heal your party or else they won't attack. Of course SP is back which is sorta the spell of the game no flashy attacks of course instead it might increase your Critical hit make you hit the enemy without guards or misses.
You can also do continuation attack which is performed by pressing the right D-Pad if you have another turn with a different character you can press the D-pad to make them do a continuation of your attack to kill the opponent much faster. You can also do support attacks which is peformed by the L-d pad. This also helps kill the opponent much faster the Support attackers are the people in the back line(which you select three out of the 7 party members you'll get) Robots will automaticly be on the Back line.
This game has alot more to explain and all of it is equal fun the only complaint for concept is that their is no use of the touch screen which is very upsetting.
9/10

Music/Sound: If you've played enough SRW like i did you should know most of the theme music in this game such as Alchmists quarry, Dark Knight, Time to Come, etc.
And new theme musics as well some are good some are just bad. But most of the remakes are nice such as So close yet so far as soon as i heard it i just left my DS on the table and listened away. This is one of the few games(incluidng ZX advent) to have full character dialog most characters in this game will make smart remarks at each other or just start talking shop keepers will also talk to you and make smarmy remarks(only one is Koban though) even in battle bosses and enemies will say small phrases such as "i have you" or "take this" still its enjoyable to see interaction with characters with dialog instead of having to read text you can actually here the expersion with the characters
7/10

Graphics: Now this is another 2-D game but the sprites are pretty well done shading and lighting is in this even some of the tiniest detail is active which makes the sprite seem more life like than solid.
10/10

Bad: The only big complaint is the extreme amount of fan service almost all female characters are busty and the portraits of them performing hyper move....well lets just say their is a bounce effect. And text lots and lots of text
-4

Good:The thing i love is the robots though their are only about 5 they all are remakes of the great robots and one new one with a great concept.
Performing combo attacks hasn't been this much fun either seeing how high you can hit them after their HP hits 0 just seems fun to do over kill.
As well as just the sheer fact that their is voice over just needs to be reminded because not many DS games have voice overs.
And fans of Xenosaga also get a treat of playing as Kos-Mos ver.4
And for Namco x Capcom fans Xiamo and Reji
+3

over all 25/30
if you can understand japanese or want to give a shot at a new RPG i recommend getting this game

well i am waiting for another Japanese game that is eye catching for now this is it.
