DarkDave64's review of Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
Introduction/ Game info
Platform: Nintendo DS
Publisher: Nintendo
Players: 1
Release: 2005
Genre: RPG
In the sequel to Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga for
GBA, our heroes return to another handheld role-playing adventure. Princess Peach takes a trip to the past with E.Gadd's new time machine, only to find a fearsome alien race known as 'Shroobs' that have come to take over the Mushroom Kingdom of the past. And they've kidnapped Peach! Mario and Luigi venture back in time to rescue her. In the process, they team up with baby versions of themselves!
Overcome puzzles, fight in turn-based battles, make humor. Do whatever it takes to save the princess... again!
Gameplay
The turn-based fight sequencess, many new abilities, mini-games. You will find all that and much more in this game. Even an appearance from Fawful from the
GBA! The babies are abselutely hilarious, and yes, Luigi's cowardly nature stands out in this game as well. However, I am sad to deduct a few points, due to the fact that it's a relatively short game, and the bosses aren't very challenging.
Gameplay: 8/10 Graphics
Though the
DS isn't known for good graphics, this game brings out what it can. Bright, detailed colors and backgrounds, decent sprite loops, and non-pixelated explosions. The cutscene graphics are especially impressive.
Graphics: 9/10 Music
The soundtrack of the game is quite impressive. From the SMB theme remix in HollyJolli Trail to the amazingly-epic final boss theme, M&L Partners in Time truly has some of the best music experiance in a Mario game.
Music: 9/10 Replay Value/ Longevity
As with most RPG games, the game's tone quickly diminishes after completion. Once you beat the last boss, there's nothing much more to do. Though, it's fun while it lasts.
Replay Value: 4/10 Closing/ conclusion
It's a pretty good game. It's worth the 30 dollars, if you prefer. I reccomend giving Mario & Luigi Partners in Time a shot for entertainment.
