Re: Was the only one dissapointed in Mario Galaxy? - 01-25-09

Are you kidding me? It was amazing! And trust me there is no way you can beat it in a few hours. You must have played a few levels in each world or something. You still have a long way to go till you beat it. xD

I never even beat it. I got like 30 stars and then lost interest. I think it was that horrible classical music they chose for the main hub.

Nintendo seems to recycle alot of there Mario music. They need to come up with some originals. I don't hate the old music but you can only remix it so many times.

This game was awsome. It would of been so great if it was Wi-Fi. For what? Idk, anything! lol Maybe online mario battles. That could be my only dissapointment I had. :p

I actually had the opposite happen for this game. I was mostly impressed. I thought the Mario series was getting stale this lately until this game came up. The levels may be short, but the level design is amazing. The game also mixes old elements like 2D platforming and the fire power with new elements like the strange gravity physics. I think the only reason to be disappointed is hype from game trailers, etc.

I like Mario Galaxy. It's not too easy and I haven't beaten it yet, and beating it in 2 hours is impossible...you haven't beaten it until you've done everything with Mario AND Luigi.

Re: Was the only one dissapointed in Mario Galaxy? - 02-03-09

Other than the apparent lack of a story, I thought this game was the epitome of what a platformer should be. Sure, it wasn't all that challenging most of the time, but playing through the gorgeous and intuitively designed levels was one of the best gaming experiences I've had, personally.

I think, with a lot of gamers, nostalgia is a compulsion that deters fair judgment. Yeah, I'm sure you all like Twilight Princess, but your love of Ocarina of Time may distort how good it really is, as you blow the difference way out of proportion. Maybe you have a good reason but I hardly ever see that being the case, as the rationale of most people is narrowed down to the fact that they were younger and generally were more immersed and far less judgmental; they saw a thing for what it was. Now, however, it seems that new games in ongoing franchises are always going to be openly subject to the criticism of minor differences with its predecessors. Mario has always followed the same formula, and I think, in reality, that Galaxy has capitalized on all the best elements of Mario platforming that have been introduced.

Seriously, this game was gorgeous, to begin with, with an original, fitting score that - while it based itself on preceding themes - captured the atmosphere of each level very well. Best of all, playing the game was a matter of applying a single algorithm of playing to a convoluted playing environment. That composure never seems to go well otherwise, but with Galaxy, it really worked.

I'm not demanding anything of you people, but seriously, this game is truly much better than you critique it as being. It's a marvel among the mundane, and it deserves to be appreciated for all the things it got right; not undermined for all the minor details that fans seem to magnify too much.

EDIT: You pretty much get the whole experience with just Mario, though. Honestly, not much changes when you use Luigi, and in fact, the game ends up making very little sense that way. The only thing it really accomplishes is letting you use Luigi's insane jumps and net you the 121st Star.

like diarago said,
i couldn't get into it and didn't like it because it just wasn't the same as like super mario world.
i returned it, but the design was incredible.
the colors were so vivid and i appreciated the development.
a highly well developed game, but i just couldn't play it

Re: Was the only one dissapointed in Mario Galaxy? - 02-06-09

in my opinion, the game is awesome, i took like a whole month and a bit to beat just with mario, and a few months ago i finished it with luigi

yes, it was over-hyped, but still, its graphics and music are just incredibly good, the controls and abilitys were also good

i would say its the best in the mario series

and for me, the best i ever had =]
