I think the fact they managed to create nearly five hundred different creatures, some having multiple forms, some having varying types as they evolve certain places.
Personally I would like to see something more than Fire, Water, and Grass for a starter, or different gym types, they seem stuck:
Red/Blue/Yellow/Fire Red/leaf Green:
Rock/Water/Thunder/Grass/Poison/Psychic/Ground
Gold/Silver/Crystal
Flying/Bug/Normal/Ghost/Fighting/Steel/Ice (yay entirely new gyms)
Ruby/Sappfire/Emerald
Rock/Fighting/Electric/Fire/Normal/Flying/Psychic/Water (aww back to most old gym elements, different order)
Diamond/Pearl
Rock/Grass/Fighting/Water/Ghost/Steel/Ice/Electric
notice they start with rock in all but one generation?
Maybe we could get a new line up if they continue the next gen:
Dark/Dragon/Eevee (multi-type)/Bug/Poison/Fossil(kabutops and such)/Fire&Ground/Water&steel
Hell, you could call em
Midnight badge, Scale Badge, Vulpin Badge, Hive Badge, Sludge badge, Bone/Skull badge, Lava/Magma badge, and Rust Badge
Unless you contribute to progressing, you shouldn't complain about something. ;)
I think they would like feedback to know what was nice and what could be fixed in this, yah?

What you are saying is technically true yet it is technically false, and your argument can be considered a paradox.
The topics you are outlining have reason.
First of all, know one knows the game better than the fans who play the game for several hours and the actual creators but both in regards to the game are of an entirely different level that cannot be prepared, just like how a child knows what the perfect toy is, while the creators know what a different perfect toy is.
Both sides have a different idea of what is wanted are both are primarily correct which is why there seem to be problems between the two sides.
Honestly, there are a lot of people that play the game, countless thousands of highly experienced players, that can have the perfect idea in their head of what a perfect Pokemon is for say the next generation, including appearance, stats, moves, etc, though many of them cannot turn that idea into a not only the physical image for the Pokemon as they may lack visual design skills, but they also wouldn't have the qualifications to even make it into such a great job as a Pokemon game animator as it's not an easy job.
You had implied the difficulty of this job which is definitely true. We have ideas, the only problem is we can't deliver them. The ones eligible to create the Pokemon and all the information that comes with them are the ones in the game and unfortunately they can't read our mind for our ideas.
The starters are a trio in it's best possible form, like rock/paper/scissors, and the primary colours red/blue/yellow. This way one would always without a doubt be stronger than the other. They had changed this game structure by adding the second types to the 4th gen starters. This way they all have types that have weaknesses and resistances of each other so that they are more equal in regards to type. All current gen starters have a type that is strong against another, whilst all current gen starters have a type that is weak against another.
The gyms had changed to the remaining 8/9 types in g/s/c which only made sense but a dark gym to this day has never been made. You had typed they went back to the old gyms...
What else could they possibly have done??
Make 8 more types for every gen??
The types had come from the 1st and 2nd gen obviously since only dark was left and only half of the 3rd gen types had traveled into the 4th gen.
I'm sure that this isn't random and there must be several factors that need to be considered before the gym types are actually decided.
Out of the 4 gens, gen 2 had the most difficult 1st gym because there was no Pokemon to catch to counter the flying types. There was an Onix up for trade in a house in the same town but the Ppidgey and Pidgeotto had mud-slap which countered Onix and he didn't learn rock attacks until after lv.10 which was hard to get to since he was a traded Pokemon, not listening to orders. Rock type gyms seem to be always made be first because there isn't a large amount of types to be straight away caught so they chose an easy one that the grass and water types can take care of. Since the fire starters (Torchic and Chimchar) evolve into fighting types it only makes sense that the rock gyms can be the easiest to win as a 1st gym because if you're not a high enough level. you can just train the fire type. Also there's the options of catching a Seedot/Lotad in r/s/e and teaching it bullet seed or catching a Budew in d/p and use growth/mega drain, so theres always an advantage.
I'm sure that the companies pay to get loads of feedback before they officially release the game to get an idea of what the consumer wants, likes and dislikes which is basically market research so i believe that a person has the right to complain as they had no means of delivering feedback just like their ideas but realistically they shouldn't need to as these games have become top sellers and clearly are superior in regards to popularity.
I personally love that these games are basically endless as you can keep playing for hours and that they are so universally fun though i wish i had the platinum features now instead of having to wait.
